This year we had 18 + volunteers researching and curating the festival program, organising and hosting the events, promoting the festival, and helping out in the bar. THANK YOU to each and every one of you for bringing this festival together🫶

Ebola, Marburg, Nipah, COVID-19, avian flu – deadly viruses continue to spill over from animals to humans. ‘Spillover’ travels the globe to uncover the roots of emerging pandemics.

'Cuba & Alaska' // Women on the frontline in Ukraine

📽️ About the film:
Since the summer of 2022, director Yegor Troyanovsky has documented the lives of 'Cuba’ and ‘Alaska’, two Ukrainian women serving as combat medics in the army, on the frontlines. Through footage from phones and helmet cameras, the film offers rare access to their daily lives.


🗓️ About the event:
Co-founder and Chairperson of Ukraine House in Denmark, Nataliya Popovych, will introduce the film. After the film, the audience is invited to connect with each other over some Ukrainian snacks and music in Asta Bar. The event will be in English.

Four women of Artsakh face war's aftermath, build lives amid uncertainty until another war interrupts; some take arms, others flee as their homeland faces ethnic cleansing and erasure.


🗓️ About the event:
Introduction to the conflict before the film. The Armenian choir, Komitas, will perform in Asta Bar after the film. Lastly, guests can enjoy drinks and discussions in the Asta Bar area. The event will be in English.

‘Climate Refugees: A Global Challenge’ explores how climate change is already forcing millions of people to leave their homes, while also highlighting the innovative and resilient ways in which affected communities across Asia, the Pacific, and Latin America are finding new paths to adapt and respond.

The Spirit Who Swims follows the migratory journey of the Salmon in the Fraser River and their spiritual and material significance to Indigenous riverside communities.

The Copenhagen Decolonization Collective will introduce the event.
Panel after the film with the director Bev Sellars, and Aviâja Lyberth Hauptmann, Associate Professor at the Institute of Health and Nature at the University of Greenland. Drinks in Asta Bar after the screening. The event will be in English.

🌟 Global Health Film Days will be back in 2026 to screen films and host discussions about the world's global health challenges🌟

For that to happen we need YOU as student curators🙌 As a student curator, you can research, watch, and select films about a health topic that interests you, get in contact with NGOs, co-organise events and much more!

Students from any academic background are welcome🤍
