𝘌𝘕𝘛𝘙𝘠 #20: Lorenz Jensen and the crew of Rentnerbank are joining GRDR26! ⛵

Sailing Fully Crewed on a JPK 10.30 from Hamburg, the team is preparing for one of Northern Europe’s most demanding inshore races.

Their reason for entering is short, honest, and very crew-focused:

“Why did we choose to take part? Crew said, they would like to do it.” — Lorenz Jensen

That is exactly the kind of team energy GRDR26 is built on: sailors taking on the around Denmark course together, sharing the work, the decisions, and the experience.

Not every great sailing story ends with a finish line.

In the 2025 Garmin Round Denmark Race, Andreas, Tobias and Johan took on one of Northern Europe’s toughest sailing challenges in Itsi Bitsi, a Farr 727. What began as a strong and promising race toward Skagen turned into a story of endurance, tough decisions, rough conditions and a thunderstorm they will never forget.

Read the story of a race that tested both crew and boat - and left them with an experience far greater than the result here: https://www.garminrounddenmarkrace.com/post/a-race-they-ll-never-forget

A long-held idea is becoming reality for Martin Schulz of Flensburg ⛵

Sailing Double Handed aboard Antoinette, a Winner 12.20, Martin is joining Garmin Round Denmark Race 2026 together with his co-skipper Mathis.

“Ever since I read an article about a race around Denmark in a 2006 issue of the German yachting magazine, I've had the idea of participating in such a race. After several Silverrudder races, this year's timing is perfect for taking part in the GRDR. Together with my Co-Skipper Mathis, we're approaching the challenge of the race with respect and are especially looking forward to the long time at sea.”

A great fit for GRDR26: experience, patience and real respect for the course. We look forward to following Antoinette on this major Northern European sailing challenge 🌊

𝘍𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 GRDR-𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘣𝘰𝘰𝘬⚓

We’re turning back the GRDR-pages of the logbook to revisit stories that shaped the journey, sparked engagement, and are still worth remembering.

The bridge log records August 7th, 2023

There are moments in the race when performance fades into the background.
When rankings don’t matter. When decisions matter more than distance.

As the storm system tightened its grip on Denmark, the fleet was gradually reduced.
Emergency harbors replaced finish lines. Judgment replaced tactics.

In the Great Belt, Michael Møllmann and the Palby Marine Fully Crewed-team kept pushing north.
Heavy seas. Relentless wind. A short message sent in the dark said it all:
“Boat and crew are okay.”

Not everyone could — or should — continue.

The Polish doublehanded team aboard Polised Manx made the call to enter Spodsbjerg in the middle of the night. A calm decision under pressure.

Singlehanded sailor Esben Pilegaard followed suit, seeking shelter in Gilleleje after a brutal stretch of sailing.

Meanwhile, Cassiopeia, skippered by Stig Wittrup, reached Helsingør just ahead of the worst conditions.
Timing, experience, and a bit of luck — all part of the offshore equation.

The kind that stays with you long after the race is over. What would you have prioritized in those conditions?
