“Morbid, founded in 1986 by Pelle “Dead” Ohlin, had a profound influence on the
burgeoning extreme metal scene in Scandinavia during the late 1980s and
early 1990s. Central to this enduring impact was Dead`s creative vision, which
shaped every aspect of the band – from their logo and artwork to their lyrics
and approach to gigs. But beyond Dead, Morbid brimmed with raw talent – Uffe
“Napoleon Pukes” Cederlund and LG “Drutten” Petrov moved on to form
Nihilist/Entombed, and their music has stood the test of time.
The original spark was snuffed when Dead moved to Norway to join Mayhem, in
early 1988. He and Jens “Dr.Schitz” Näsström later made several attempts to
revive Morbid, up until Dead`s demise.
In January 2023 Morbid was resurrected with original members John “Gehenna”
Hagström, Torbjörn “TG” Gräslund, Uffe “Napoleon Pukes” Cederlund and Jens
“Dr. Schitz” Näsström. Completing the lineup were Dead`s brother, Daniel “Necrobird” Ohlin on vocals and Erik “Rötan” Danielsson from Watain on drums.
A Morbid event aims to immerse the audience in an allure that transcends a
normal concert. We like the fans to feel they are part of something special - both visually and musically. As a band we will always seek to take things one step further. Venues with special meaning or collaborations with people that
have a burning desire like us to bring something special in a world too clouded with outside static. To draw the fans in and let them be mesmerized and go out in the night with a sense that they were truly part of something
extraordinary.
Morbid is constantly working on expanding the show, bringing old material
back to life, some long forgotten and never before heard outside of the
rehearsal studio.”
