🏅 Congratulations! To the Winners of Food Film Menu 2025

The Food Film Menu 2025 winners were officially announced at the Award Ceremony held in Gozo, Malta, on 27 October 2025, hosted by Gozo, European Region of Gastronomy 2026 at the Ta’ Frenc Restaurant.

🏆 First Prize Cooking as a Beacon, displays Menorca’s culinary heritage from Menorca, European Region of Gastronomy Awarded 2022 (Spain). The film is produced by Fundació Foment del Turisme de Menorca and Be Creative.
🥇The prize was received by Oscar Roca, Young Chef Ambassador & Star of the film.

🏅2nd Prize: The Time Machine, is a produced film by Giannis Giatas (Creative Filmmer), starring Polina Nazarova, Young Chef Ambassador from South Aegean, European Region of Gastronomy 2019 (Greece)
✨The prize was received by Polina Nazarova, Young Chef Ambassador & Star of the film.

🎖3rd Prize: Dalmatian Marenda, a film by Tamara Babun Zovko and Una Radić from Central Dalmatia, European Region of Gastronomy Candidate 2027 (Croatia)
🌟The prize was received by Maja Franetović, Associate for Product Development, Tourist Board of Split-Dalmatia County and filmmaker Una Radić

🏆Public Vote: Each year IGCAT opens the Food Film Menu to a public vote and this year the winner was Tales and Secrets: Manabí, Pacific Fish Ceviche with Peanut – Jipijapa’s Legacy
🥂The prize was received by Fadiana Barrera, Subdirector of Communication of Gobierno Provincial de Manabí from Manabí World Region of Gastronomy 2026 (Ecuador)

Rest In Peace Jørgen Leth.
Jørgen Leth was a Danish poet and film director, who was considered a leading figure in experimental documentary filmmaking

Together with NAFA, we screened ‘Pelota II,” where Jørgen came to eat with us and the audiences, he introduced the film and took time for an Q&A. This meant a lot to us- not only because Jørgen was one of Denmark most influencial, experimental and with focus on Cultural diversity, he was also born in Aarhus.
Furthermore his documentary “5 obstacles’ together with Lars von Trier, has been an inspiration for us, in how to think out of the box, push our boundaries and still remain ( a perfect) human.

The Food Film Menu 2025 is looking for short films that celebrate local food traditions, sustainable food systems, and the fight for good, clean, and fair food. Let’s showcase the farmers, artisans, and chefs working to feed the world while preserving biodiversity!

Food Film Menu aims to raise awareness on food as cultural heritage and its vital role in encouraging and supporting local sustainable development in regions across the world.
We have identified the important role of audio-visual for promoting sustainable practises, local food products, local food recipes and traditions related to regional gastronomy and therefore we hope to promote a film competition that will:

Place a spotlight on regions from across the globe and their food heritage;
Provide opportunities to promote local food and craft products internationally;
Encourage young film directors to become ambassadors for their regions.
Engage the public in interesting ways to stimulate pride and awareness.
So what is the Food Film Menu?
It is a collection of short films showcasing footage about regions from across the globe under the theme: Food Stories. From the projects submitted, a jury will select up to 14 Best Films that will permanently form part of the Food Film Menu. Among them, a people’s choice vote on social media will then select the Public’s Favourite Film. The Food Film Menu will be published yearly on IGCAT’s website and on social media, highlighting each creative work and the culinary heritage story behind it.
