The world’s #1 cloud & internet infrastructure festival. March 15–18, 2027 | Europa-Park, Germany. The Heart of the Cloud. Registration is now open!

12/08/2026

We are now living in the moment when trust becomes its own layer of internet infrastructure. How Cloud and internet service providers process that development will have a big impact on how they thrive (or not) in the coming few years.

"Is AI leaving the Cloud?" That's not a question many would have predicted a few years ago, but as geopolitical, legislative, and economic forces converge, data sovereignty and protection are now front-of-mind throughout the Cloud ecosystem.

Do you have a data sovereignty strategy? How are you approaching it?

08/08/2026

AI is now past the "shiny magic toy" phase, and business leaders are asking tactical and strategic questions about cost, deployment, model provenance, and more.

What do you consider when integrating AI into your ops?

07/08/2026

Are you an order-taker or a product-maker? This becomes an even bigger existential question in the AI age.

06/08/2026

What do you think the internet industry will look like in five years?

05/08/2026

The platforms and services that survive will not necessarily be the biggest or fastest, or even backed by those with the deepest pockets... but those that are the most widely trusted when current conditions deteriorate. David Cattler's CloudFest 2026 keynote may seem a bit Mad Max, but what he's talking about is already coming to pass.

04/08/2026

🗞️ OpenAI has contracted 3.2 gigawatts of power for Project Camellia, a new AI data center project in Effingham County, Georgia.

Georgia Power is expected to deliver the capacity in phases between 2028 and 2032.

OpenAI says it will cover the full cost of the infrastructure and electricity required for the project, rather than passing those costs on to existing customers. The company has also committed to independent annual audits and continued engagement with the local community.

OpenAI itself identifies power, land, permitting, transmission, workforce, and partner readiness as critical factors when selecting new infrastructure sites. It also says that its wider Stargate program has already surpassed its original target of securing 10 GW of US AI infrastructure by 2029.

The bit about "local community" should probably also be on OpenAI's list of critical factors, though, as sentiment around AI-focused data centers can make or break a local or state politician's career.

Media coverage around developments like this tend to focus on the hyperscaler or AI provider, the politicians, and the public—but not the hardware and service providers in between, without whom none of this would even work.

What factors get missed in public discussions? What misconceptions do you see? (For example, 20 minutes in the Cloud Fair exhibition hall at Europa-Park would teach someone about closed-loop cooling.)

Also, what risks or opportunities are NOT getting discussed enough?

As AI moves into daily business operations, a new question emerges, driven by a number of factors: where should AI workloads run?

01/08/2026

Efficiency isn't just a sustainability goal, though that would be worthwhile by itself. It has become a margin opportunity as well, squeezing as much output as possible from each square meter, each kilowatt, each gallon of water.

Data center operators in the CloudFest community, how are you approaching this?
