In the next months we are planning our 3rd project with our partner Sharewater and Fundifix. This time a renovation for water supply improvement at Kora Piped Scheme (KPS) in Kitui County, Kenya.
More than 250 people as well as 300 livestock depend on the water plant at KPS. It’s the only water pipe within a radius of 3km. KPS is registered as a community based organization and is managed by 40 households. The challenge is a main limitation to safe, sufficient and reliable water service delivery to community. Our renewal will ensure that the water source can operate in the long term and the local community has more clean water and income to maintain the water plant. Improvements will involve constructing a water kiosk with more taps to reduce queuing time. Install a water ATM to ensure users can fetch water 24/7 and reduce operating cost as no operator will be required. Our local partner Fundifix will continue providing professional repair and maintenance service.
Later this year the second phase of the project aims to migrate KPS from a combined grid and generator power source to a solar-powered system.
