Do you have the right rosin for the colder weather?

As temperatures drop, hard rosin can become more prone to cracking, so switching to a softer rosin can help.

PIRASTRO options to try:
1️⃣ Evah Pirazzi Gold rosin
2️⃣ Oliv / Evah Pirazzi rosin
3️⃣ Cellisto rosin

The right rosin can make all the difference during the colder months!

Save this for your winter instrument care 🎻

❄️🎻Cold weather calls for a little extra string care!
Would you like to know how to keep your gut strings in good condition during the winter months?

Here are a few tips to help you care for your strings:
- Wipe away excess rosin regularly with a soft, dry cloth
- For metal-wound strings, use string cleaning liquid sparingly, taking care to protect your instrument's varnish
- Apply a small amount of string oil to the strings at the fingerboard area when needed
- Tune down 1/4 tone when stored in cold weather or before flying
- Avoid sudden or extreme temperature changes

A little maintenance can help preserve your strings' sound, response, and lifespan.

How do you take care of your strings during the colder months? ❄️🎻

A little care goes a long way! After playing, gently wipe your strings with a soft, dry cloth to remove excess rosin and keep them clean.

Don't forget about humidity, either! Cold weather and indoor heating can dry out the air, so using a humidifier can help maintain a stable environment for your instrument and strings. Aim for around 45% humidity to keep them protected throughout winter.

PIRASTRO Artist Steven Isserlis enjoys playing both our Oliv and Eudoxa strings and is one of many cellists who combines our different string sets.

He favors gut strings, and we have five gut core sets that cover a wide range of needs. From brilliant and powerful to warm and complex tones, each set provides its own character.

✨ Passione: A powerful, brilliant sound with a very quick response and a wide range of tonal possibilities. This unique set is the only one with a steel core on the A- and D-strings and a gut core on the G- and C-strings.

✨ Oliv: A brilliant, warm, and complex gut sound, with plenty of volume and easy response.

✨ Eudoxa: A warm, complex, and rounded sound, with a low string tension and easy response.

✨ Gold: A bright gut sound and quick response, with great value for money.

✨ Chorda: An authentic choice for Baroque instruments, with a brilliant, soft sound and very low string tension.
