✨We’re happy to announce that KRUNK (Turkey, Armenia), a project in development by director Aurora Tuğçe Aydın and producer Mikayel Dishunts has received the Doc Around Europe Festival Network Award at MakeCoProDox Forum MakeDox 2026!

The award comes with a €3,000 cash prize to support the project on its way forward.

5th Verzió Young Critics Workshop – Call for Applications

Are you an aspiring film critic, journalist, writer, filmmaker, artist, or film student interested in documentary cinema? Join the 5th Verzio Young Critics Workshop in Budapest!

Taking place 16–20 November 2026 during the 23rd Verzió International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival, the workshop offers a unique opportunity to develop your film writing and editing skills, exchange ideas with fellow young critics from across Europe, and connect with the international documentary community.

Participants will work in English with tutor Steve Rickinson, receive free festival accreditation, access to industry events, and take part in networking opportunities with critics and filmmakers.

🎓 Four participants can receive travel reimbursement within Europe and accommodation.
📅 Application deadline: 31 August 2026
💡 No application fee.
📍 On-site participation in Budapest is required.

We’re happy to announce the DOC AROUND EUROPE Award at DOC LAB 2025:
THE GRANDFATHER PUZZLE by Ora DeKornfeld ()

The project follows the director’s journey to reconnect with her 100-year-old Hungarian grandfather, a Holocaust survivor, by turning places from his escape story into custom jigsaw puzzles they assemble together. An intimate film about memory, trauma, and what it takes to build a home of one’s own.

🎬 Our member festival Biografilm calls for films!

The 22nd edition of Biografilm Festival will take place from June 5–15, 2026 in Bologna — the city where stories of real lives, imagination, and creativity meet.

🌍 Known internationally as the festival dedicated to life stories and quality cinema, Biografilm celebrates films that explore the world we live in with original, bold, and courageous voices, whether through documentary or fiction.

✨ Eligibility:
• Italian premiere required
• Minimum length: 50 minutes
• Completed after January 1, 2025

🎥 Biografilm features several sections, including International Competition, Biografilm Italia, Contemporary Lives, Beyond Fiction – Oltre la finzione, and Art & Music. Each year, filmmakers from around the world gather to share human stories that inspire empathy, reflection, and dialogue.
