A beautiful evening of reaching beyond borders, languages, and expectations. 🌍🎬 
Last night at 20minmax, we presented one of the International Competition called “Reaching Beyond” — a powerful selection of short films that explored human connection, resilience, and imagination. ✨ 
Among them, the stunning animated documentary The Knots of Destiny by French director Déborah Chang captured hearts with its poetic storytelling and visual grace. We were honored to welcome her for an insightful Q&A, where she shared the inspirations and creative process behind her film. 🧶💬🇫🇷 
It was an evening full of emotion, curiosity, and thoughtful conversations—reminding us once again why cinema is a universal language! ❤️🎥🌐

Ein wundervoller Abend voller Geschichten, die Grenzen, Sprachen und Erwartungen überschreiten. 🌍🎬

Gestern Abend bei 20minmax haben wir unseren Internationalen Wettbewerb „Reaching Beyond“ – eine kraftvolle Auswahl an Kurzfilmen über menschliche Verbundenheit, Widerstandskraft und Vorstellungskraft gezeigt. ✨

Darunter begeisterte der poetische Animationsdokumentarfilm The Knots of Destiny der französischen Regisseurin Déborah Chang das Publikum mit seiner berührenden Erzählweise und visuellen Schönheit. Wir hatten die große Freude, Déborah für ein aufschlussreiches Q&A bei uns begrüßen zu dürfen, in dem sie über die Entstehung und Hintergründe ihres Films sprach. 🧶💬🇫🇷 
Ein Abend voller Emotionen, Neugier und inspirierender Gespräche – der uns einmal mehr zeigte, warum Kino eine universelle Sprache ist.
Vielen Dank an alle, die dabei waren, und an die großartigen Filmschaffenden, die immer wieder über sich hinauswachsen. ❤️🎥🌐

What an unforgettable fourth evening at 20minmax! 🌙🎬  At Ratschhaus, the German Competition “Auf und Davon” had us dreaming and reflecting—followed by a thoughtful Q&A with the talented Samuel Chaleila Puccini. 🇩🇪🎞️💬 
At vhs Kino, things got wild (in the best way!) with our Weird Movies Night — a bold, bizarre, and brilliant ride, wrapped up with a Q&A featuring the amazing Emma Bading 🌀🍿🎤

Was für ein unvergesslicher vierter Abend bei 20minmax! 🌙🎬

Im Ratschhaus hat uns der deutsche Wettbewerb „Auf und Davon“ zum Träumen und Nachdenken gebracht – gefolgt von einem spannenden Q&A mit dem talentierten Samuel Chaleila Puccini. 🇩🇪🎞️💬

Im vhs Kino wurde es wild (auf die beste Art!) bei unserer Weird Movies Night – ein mutiger, bizarrer und brillanter Trip, abgeschlossen mit einem Q&A mit der großartigen Emma Bading . 🌀🍿🎤

Abende wie dieser zeigen uns, warum wir lieben, was wir tun – Kino, das überrascht, bewegt und uns vor allem verbindet. 🫶💡🎥

Als Designer bei entwickelt er gemeinsam mit Festivalleiterin Lisa das visuelle Konzept und sorgt für ein einzigartiges Erscheinungsbild des Festivals. 🎨✨
Er liebt es, neue Dinge zu entdecken und verbringt gerne Zeit mit Familie & Freunden. Als Ausgleich geht er laufen oder schwimmen. 🏃‍♂️🏊
Besonders freut er sich darauf, sein Design überall beim Festival zu sehen – und natürlich die Filme und die besondere Atmosphäre zu genießen! 🎬💛

As a designer he collaborates with festival director Lisa to create the visual concept and give the festival its unique look. 🎨✨
He also enjoys discovering new things, and loves spending time with family & friends. To unwind, he likes running and swimming. 🏃‍♂️🏊
He’s especially excited to see his design come to life at the festival – and, of course, to enjoy the films and the unique atmosphere! 🎬💛

TIDES OF CHANGE 🌊
This selection of international short films explores identity, longing, and transformation. In Kateh Gojeh Farangi, a woman reconnects with her roots through cooking, while The Boy with White Skin follows an albino child burdened with others’ hopes. Cat, Fox and the Wolf takes two travelers on a mythical journey, and How to Say Goodbye captures the final moments of a fading love. Freak confronts hidden desires, In My Beginning Is My End unearths secret emotions at an Irish wake, and The Canon explores the duality of admiration and marginalization.

Sehnsucht, Erinnerung und Selbstbestimmung. In At Home I Feel Like Leaving ringt eine junge Frau nach ihrer Rückkehr ins Heimatdorf mit Verantwortung und Verbundenheit. Meat Pie entfacht unausgesprochene Nostalgie zwischen Ex-Liebenden, während Goodbye Milo den Abschied eines jungen Seemanns zeigt. The Male Gaze Recipe hinterfragt Geschlechterrollen, 9 Tage im August begleitet eine junge Frau durch einen Sommer voller Entscheidungen, und Wurzeln und Triebe beleuchtet Macht und Vertrauen in einer Beziehung.
