Das jährlich im Juni stattfindende Junge Kurzfilm Festival Hamburg Mo&Friese ist eines der wenigen Kinder- und Jugendfilmfestivals weltweit, das sich ausschließlich dem Kurzfilm widmet. 1999 ist das Festival aus einem Sonderprogramm des Internationalen KurzFilmFestival Hamburg entstanden. Ziel des Festivals ist unter Berücksichtigung pädagogischer Asp
ekte neben Animations- und Kurzspielfilmen auch Dokumentarfilme und Experimentelles zu etablieren, die Neugierde der Kinder zu wecken und sie in ihrer Phantasie anzuregen. Aus ca. 500 Filmeinreichungen stellt das Festivalteam rund zehn Kurzfilmprogramme zusammen. Diese werden in Anwesenheit geladener Filmemacher altersgerecht moderiert. Ausländische Filme werden live in deutscher Sprache eingesprochen. Kinder und Jugendliche sind bei uns nicht nur ZuschauerInnen, sondern auch als FilmemacherInnen, in den Kinderjurys, als JungjournalistInnen mit eigenem Presseausweis oder als Online-KritikerInnen auf unserer Website aktiv. Das Festival richtet sich an Kinder und Jugendliche von 4 bis 14 Jahren. (English version)
The annual Young Shortfilm Festival Mo&Friese takes place in June and is one of the few filmfestials for children and youth in the world that is exclusively dedicated to short films. In 1999 Mo&Friese was born out of a special program of the International ShortFilmFestival Hamburg. It is the aim of the festival to establish not only animations and short features, but also – with an eye on pedagogical aspects – documentaries and experimental films. We want to arouse the children’s curiosity and inspire their imagination. We think that shortfilms are perfect to foster „film-literacy“ as well as to educate film perception. Each year the festival team curates about 10 programmes based on around 500 film submissions. The presentation of the programmes is carefully harmonised with the age of the children and often invited filmmakers are happy to personally tell more about their works. Films with a non-German soundtrack are dubbed live. Mo&Friese invites children not only as an audience, but encourages them to actively participate as members of the children’s jury, as filmmakers, journalists or online film-critics! The festival is for children and teenagers from 4 to 14 years.
