International Lied Competition "Bolko von Hochberg"

Der Wettbewerb bietet jungen talentierten Musikern nicht nur während des Wettbewerbs, sondern auch im Folgejahr eine Bühne. Drei Juroren vergaben Sonderpreise, die in einer Einladung zu kleinen Konzerten oder Tonaufnahmen bestehen.
Neben Dr. Romy Donath, die eine Veranstaltungsreihe im Museum der Romantik in Dresden betreut, gilt auch der in Opole ansässige Dirigent und Kulturmanager Bartosz Żurakowski als großer Förderer junger Talente. Er hat bereits in den vergangenen Editionen vielen Preisträgern und Finalisten des Wettbewerbs eine Bühne auf seinen Festivals gegeben.

Das sind die Musiker, die Bartosz in diesem oder im nächsten Jahr fördern wird:
Matthias Hoffmann (Bariton, Österreich) und Lisa Ochsendorf (Pianistin, Deutschland)
Wojciech Kowalski (Bassbariton, Polen) und Szymon Chorobiński (Pianist, Polen)
Gemeinsam mit Eleni Müller übernehmen sie die Veranstaltung eines Konzertes oder die Realisierung einer Tonaufnahme für das Duo Benjamin Russell (Irischer Bariton) und Yeon Seo Ra (Südkoreanische Pianistin), die beide in Deutschland leben.

Konkurs oferuje młodym utalentowanym muzykom scenę nie tylko w trakcie samego konkursu, lecz także w kolejnym roku. Trzech jurorów przyznało nagrody specjalne, które polegają na zaproszeniu do kameralnych koncertów lub realizacji nagrań.
Obok dr Romy Donath, która prowadzi cykl wydarzeń w Muzeum Romantyzmu w Dreźnie, wielkim mecenasem młodych talentów jest również Bartosz Żurakowski – dyrygent i manager kultury z Opola. Już w poprzednich edycjach konkursu zapewnił on wielu laureatom i finalistom scenę na swoich festiwalach.
Dziękujemy z całego serca, Bartoszu, za wszystko, co robisz dla muzyków!

This week I have experienced a new thing for me - Lied competition. And it was amazing! 1 round in Görlitz in such a wonderful hall! Semifinals and finals in Poland, Jeleniy Góry, a beautiful place! Thank you so much, you are wonderful! Concert in Dresden is waiting for us!😉

Artemiy Sokolovskiy is the winner of the Prize for the Best Lied Pianist of this edition.
He is the pianist of the outstanding duo with the wonderful Romanian soprano Iuliana Ioana. There were many strong contenders for this prize, as numerous excellent pianists took part in the competition.
The young pianist (only 22 years old), who comes from Russia and Israel and is currently studying in Weimar, was selected by the jury. The jury itself included two outstanding Lied pianists: Prof. Alexander Schmalcz from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig and Prof. Grzegorz Biegas, who teaches at the Karol Szymanowski Academy of Music in Katowice.

Artemiy Sokolovskiy ist der Gewinner des Preises für den besten Lied-Pianisten dieser Ausgabe.
Er ist der Pianist des herausragenden Duos mit der wunderbaren rumänischen Sopranistin Iuliana Ioana. Für diesen Preis gab es viele starke Favoriten, da zahlreiche exzellente Pianistinnen und Pianisten am Wettbewerb teilgenommen haben.
Der junge Pianist (gerade einmal 22 Jahre alt), der aus Russland und Israel stammt und derzeit in Weimar studiert, wurde von der Jury ausgewählt. Die Jury selbst bestand aus zwei herausragenden Lied-Pianisten: Prof. Alexander Schmalcz von der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig und Prof. Grzegorz Biegas, der an der Karol-Szymanowski-Musikakademie in Katowice lehrt.

Artemiy Sokolovskiy jest laureatem Nagrody za najlepszego pianistę pieśniarskiego tej edycji konkursu.
Jest on pianistą wybitnego duetu z wspaniałą rumuńską sopranistką Iulianą Ioaną. O tę nagrodę walczyło wielu mocnych kandydatów, ponieważ w konkursie brało udział wielu doskonałych pianistów.
Młody pianista (ma dopiero 22 lata), pochodzący z Rosji i Izraela, a obecnie studiujący w Weimarze, został wybrany przez jury. W skład jury wchodzili dwaj wybitni pianiści specjalizujący się w pieśni: prof. Alexander Schmalcz z Hochschule für Musik und Theater w Lipsku oraz prof. Grzegorz Biegas, który naucza w Akademii Muzycznej im. Karola Szymanowskiego w Katowicach.

Let’s present the special prizes of this edition of the competition.
Dresden has a magnificent history with the art of song! Robert Schumann, Clara Schumann, Carl Maria von Weber, Richard Strauss and Richard Wagner are just some of the great personalities connected to this city.
Dr. Romy Donath, soprano, musicologist and renowned specialist in the music of Dresden, is also the Director of the Museum of Romanticism. The museum regularly hosts concerts in its historic venues — including the Carl Maria von Weber House and the Kügelgenhaus, which houses a historical Hammerklavier.
This year, Dr. Donath awarded the Special Prize of the Museum of Romanticism to the duo that placed fourth. It went to the very young but highly talented Romanian soprano Iuliana Ioana and the outstanding young pianist Artemiy Sokolovskiy. Both artists study in Weimar. They impressed the jury with the exceptional quality of their song interpretation, the beauty of the voice of Ms Ioana, and the clarity and passion of Mr Sokolovskiy’s piano playing.
We are delighted that we will have the opportunity to hear this outstanding duo again in Dresden in 2027.

Das Duo der malaysischen Sopranistin See-Huey Tan und des südafrikanischen Pianisten Gavin Liang May — beide Studierende an der Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln — erreichte in der Jury-Bewertung exakt dieselbe Punktzahl wie das Duo Bierweiler/Mishukov.
Aus Fairnessgründen vergab die Jury daher zwei zweite Preise (je 4.000 €) und verzichtete auf den dritten Preis.
Die sehr junge Sopranistin und der Pianist begeisterten nicht nur die Jury mit einer perfekten Darbietung einer breiten Palette an Liedern — gelobt wurden neben der schönen Stimme auch die hervorragende Diktion der Malaysierin und das außergewöhnliche Klaviergenie des Pianisten —, sondern auch das Publikum.
See-Huey und Gavin gewannen zusätzlich den Publikumspreis!
Herzlichen Glückwunsch an die beiden Musiker!

The duo of Malaysian soprano See-Huey Tan and South African pianist Gavin Liang May — both students at the University of Music and Dance Cologne — achieved exactly the same score from the jury as the Bierweiler/Mishukov duo.
For reasons of fairness, the jury therefore awarded two second prizes (4,000 € each) and did not award a third prize.
The very young soprano and pianist not only enchanted the jury with a perfect performance spanning a wide range of Lieder — they were praised not only for the beauty of the voice, but also for the excellent diction of the Malaysian singer and the outstanding pianistic genius of the pianist — but also won over the audience.
See-Huey and Gavin also won the Audience Prize!

Duet malajskiej sopranistki See-Huey Tan i południowoafrykańskiego pianisty Gavina Lianga Maya — oboje studentów Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln — otrzymał od jury dokładnie taką samą liczbę punktów jak duet Bierweiler/Mishukov.
Z powodów fair play jury przyznało więc dwa drugie miejsca (po 4.000 € każde) i zrezygnowało z trzeciej nagrody.
Bardzo młoda sopranistka i pianista zachwycili nie tylko jury perfekcyjnym wykonaniem szerokiego spektrum pieśni — chwalono nie tylko głos, ale także doskonałą dykcję Malaysijki oraz pianistyka geniusz pianisty — lecz także publiczność.
See-Huey i Gavin zdobyli ponadto Nagrodę Publiczności!

Katharina Bierweiler is only 22 years old and has already won prizes at many important competitions — including in a duo with the Finnish pianist Jyri Mishukov. The personalities and musical genius of these two artists complement each other so perfectly that it was no surprise they also won our competition.
We wish these two outstanding artists, who are studying in Karlsruhe, a brilliant career and it would be a great pleasure to welcome them back to Görlitz in the future.

🇩🇪 Katharina Bierweiler ist erst 22 Jahre alt und bereits Preisträgerin bei vielen wichtigen Wettbewerben – auch im Duo mit dem finnischen Pianisten Jyri Mishukov. Die Persönlichkeiten und das musikalische Genie der beiden Künstler passen so gut zusammen, dass es kein Wunder war, dass sie auch unseren Wettbewerb gewonnen haben.
