Strong Performances at the 2026 CVD State Championships
The State Championships of the „Cheerleader Vereinigung Deutschland“ (CVD) – German Cheerleader Association represent the first qualification stage in the German cheerleading competition system. Teams compete in various age divisions and levels to qualify for regional competitions and ultimately the German National Championships.
The 2026 State Championships impressively demonstrated how dynamically the sport of cheerleading is developing in Germany. Across five major regional championships – North, East, Central, South, and West – numerous teams from all over the country showcased their skills and competed for qualification to the National Championships.
The season kicked off with the East State Championship, which took place in early March. At this event, particularly youth teams delivered strong performances. What stood out was the increasing technical precision in the routines, combined with impressive creativity. Many teams impressed with clean stunts and pyramids, synchronized ex*****on, and significantly improved tumbling – a clear sign of the intensive training within the clubs.
This was followed by the West State Championship in Gelsenkirchen, which took place on the same weekend as the South State Championship. Many experienced teams delivered confident and technically demanding performances. At the same time, numerous younger teams used the opportunity to gain their first competition experience. The mix of established top programs and emerging talent made the competition especially diverse.
A particular highlight of the season was the two-day South State Championship in Heidelberg. Over the course of two days, spectators were treated to a comprehensive program featuring a wide range of age groups and disciplines. The high number of participants highlighted that southern Germany is one of the most active cheerleading regions. Teams presented challenging routines with complex pyramids, high basket tosses, and expressive dance elements. The atmosphere in the arena was characterized by enthusiasm, team spirit, and loud support.
The North State Championship took place in Lübeck this year. Many experienced teams delivered polished and technically advanced performances, while numerous younger teams seized the opportunity to gain their first competition experience. The combination of established elite programs and rising talent made the event particularly multifaceted.
The State Championships concluded with the Central competition in Marburg, another key event. Here, established teams met up-and-coming programs, leading to especially exciting results. Score differences were often minimal, underlining the high level of competitiveness in this region. Particularly in the junior and senior divisions, it became evident that performance levels across Germany are becoming increasingly balanced.
Overall, the five State Championships highlight the positive development of cheerleading in Germany. Increasing participation numbers, rising technical standards, and diverse choreography all demonstrate that the sport continues to grow and establish itself. For many teams, these competitions were not only a qualification stage but also an important benchmark for the rest of the season.
Looking ahead to the upcoming National Championship on May 30 in Frankfurt, it is already clear that the performances seen at the regional level promise exciting competitions on the national stage. The 2026 State Championships have once again proven their central role in German cheerleading.
