“The past few days were next level.”

With these words, journalist Irem Cati perfectly captures the atmosphere in her article published yesterday in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ).

Read it here:

Two and a half days of outstanding performances by the six pianists nominated for the International German Piano Award captivated both the jury and the audience. During the intermissions, lively discussions unfolded — about impressions, interpretations, and of course, about who would ultimately receive the German Piano Award and the Schott Music Award on Sunday evening.
Especially on Saturday afternoon, it became clear how intensely the seven-member jury wrestled with its decision. In the end, Roman Fediurko and Robert Neumann were selected as the two finalists and were officially announced on stage by notary Dr. Bödeker.

The final as well as the Grand Prix concert were livestreamed and are available here for anyone who could not attend in person:

The International Piano Forum Frankfurt extends its warmest congratulations once again to the extraordinarily gifted Robert Neumann, recipient of both distinctions:
– International German Piano Award, endowed with €20,000
– Schott Music Award, endowed with €3,000

My special thanks go to:

– our patron Dr. Peter Ramsauer
– all nominated pianists: https://ipf-frankfurt.com/international-german-piano-award/igpa-2025-nominations/
– the entire jury and Dr. Annette Bödeker: https://ipf-frankfurt.com/international-german-piano-award/igpa-2025-jurors/
– Samira Maleki for her professional and warm-hearted moderation

C. Bechstein for their exceptional support, as well as all other partners and sponsors who made this remarkable event possible.

And, of course, all colleagues who ensured that everything ran smoothly.

🌟 Congratulations, Eric Lu! 🌟

In 2017, the now winner of the Chopin Competition in Warsaw 2025, Eric Lu, won the 7th International German Piano Award – at just 19 years of age.

After three intense solo rounds, he performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in the Great Hall of the Alte Oper Frankfurt, alongside his fellow finalist Fabio Martino – a moment that remains unforgettable.

Even back then, jurors such as Prof. Schmitt-Leonardy recognized his extraordinary talent.

Many outstanding pianists nominated for the International German Piano Award before and after him have performed on the magnificent grand pianos of our partner C. Bechstein, leaving behind unforgettable musical impressions.

✨ We warmly congratulate Eric Lu on his remarkable victory at this year’s Chopin Competition in Warsaw! ✨
With great anticipation, we now look forward to the 14th International German Piano Award, taking place from 21 – 23 November 2025, and to discovering who will take the stage and receive the award this year. 🎹
