100 Jahre Wajda beim Kozzi Film- und Theaterfestival in Zielona Góra 🇵🇱

Im Fokus standen in diesem Jahr neben Maciej „Kozzi“ Kozłowski vor allem Ewa Dałkowska und Andrzej Wajda, der 2026 100 Jahre alt geworden wäre. Gemeinsam mit Studierenden der BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg waren wir vor Ort, um Wajdas Filme neu zu entdecken und aktuelle polnische Produktionen zu sehen. 🎥

Beim FFC 2026 setzen wir diese Perspektive mit Unterstützung der Stiftung für deutsch-polnische Zusammenarbeit fort: mit einer Wajda-Hommage und polnisch-deutschen Studierendenprogrammen. 🤝✨

100 Years of Wajda at the Kozzi Film and Theatre Festival in Zielona Góra 🇵🇱

This year, alongside Maciej “Kozzi” Kozłowski, the focus was primarily on Ewa Dałkowska and Andrzej Wajda, who would have turned 100 in 2026. Together with students from the BTU Cottbus-Senftenberg, we were there to rediscover Wajda’s films and watch current Polish productions. 🎥

At the FFC 2026, we will continue this focus with the support of the Foundation for German-Polish Cooperation: with a tribute to Wajda and Polish-German student programmes. 🤝✨

🎬 Cannes Update von Programmdirektor Bernd Buder

Zwischen Meetings, Screenings und Netzwerken entdeckt Bernd in Cannes spannende Filme für das kommende FFC Programm. FATHERLAND von Paweł Pawlikowski blickt auf Thomas Manns Reise ins Nachkriegsdeutschland und den Druck zur politischen Positionierung, DUA von Blerta Basholli verarbeitet Erfahrungen aus dem Kosovo Krieg, und BUTTERFLY JAM von Kantemir Balagov erzählt von einer tscherkessischen Familie in der Diaspora.

Während auf dem roten Teppich gefeiert wird, entsteht im Marché du Film das Festivalprogramm von morgen, auch für Cottbus.

FATHERLAND by Paweł Pawlikowski looks at Thomas Mann’s journey through postwar Germany and the pressure to take a political stance, DUA by Blerta Basholli processes experiences from the Kosovo war, and BUTTERFLY JAM by Kantemir Balagov tells the story of a Circassian family in the diaspora.

Das FFC beim goEast Filmfestival in Wiesbaden 🎬✨

FFC-Programmkoordinator Merlin Webers war beim 32. goEast Filmfestival in Wiesbaden zu Gast und moderierte gemeinsam mit der Regisseurin Giedrė Žickytė das Q&A zu ihrem Film A GOODNIGHT KISS. Es entwickelte sich ein intensives und spannendes Gespräch, das am Ende ganze 45 Minuten dauerte.

A GOODNIGHT KISS ist eine feinfühlige Hommage an Irena Veisaitė: Holocaust-Überlebende, Kulturschaffende und unermüdliche Stimme für Menschlichkeit. Der Film verbindet Vergangenheit und Gegenwart zu dem Porträt einer außergewöhnlichen Frau, die ihr Leben der Menschlichkeit widmete.

Das präsentiert in Wiesbaden und weiteren Orten im Rhein-Main-Gebiet die ganze Vielfalt des mittel- und osteuropäischen Filmschaffens. Schön, ein kleiner Teil des Festivals gewesen zu sein.

FFC at the goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden 🎬✨

FFC Program Coordinator Merlin Webers attended the 32nd goEast Film Festival in Wiesbaden, where he moderated the Q&A for the documentary A GOODNIGHT KISS together with director Giedrė Žickytė. What began with only a few initial questions turned into an intense and engaging conversation that ultimately lasted 45 minutes.

A GOODNIGHT KISS is a sensitive tribute to Irena Veisaitė: Holocaust survivor, cultural figure, and tireless voice for humanity. The film weaves together past and present to create the portrait of an extraordinary woman who dedicated her life to compassion and humanity.

The Film Festival presents the full diversity of Central and Eastern European filmmaking in Wiesbaden and at various other locations throughout the Rhine-Main region. It was wonderful to be small part of the festival.

🎬 Wiedersehen mit TRIUMPH: Bulgarische Filmwoche in Berlin

Die groteske, auf wahren Begebenheiten basierende Geschichte über eine geheime Militäroperation und die Suche nach dem „Stein des Weisen“ kehrt zurück auf die Leinwand. TRIUMPH von Kristina Grozeva und Petar Valchanov lief 2025 im Spielfilmwettbewerb beim FFC und ist nun in Berlin zu sehen.

Im Rahmen der Bulgarischen Filmwoche im Klick Kino Berlin (23.–29. April 2026) erwarten euch außerdem sieben weitere aktuelle bulgarische Filme – darunter HUMBLE, der erste Spielfilm von Svetoslav Draganov.

🎬 Reunion with TRIUMPH: Bulgarian Film Week in Berlin

This grotesque, true-story-inspired tale about a secret military operation and the search for the “philosopher’s stone” returns to the big screen. TRIUMPH by Kristina Grozeva and Petar Valchanov screened in the feature film competition at FFC in 2025 and can now be seen in Berlin.

As part of Bulgarian Film Week at Klick Kino Berlin (April 23–29, 2026), you can also look forward to seven more recent Bulgarian films – including HUMBLE, the first feature film by Svetoslav Draganov.

„LEICHARDTS LETZTES RÄTSEL“ und „DIE VERLORENE FREIHEIT“ führen von der australischen Wüste bis in die USA und setzen sich mit Fragen von Identität, Geschichte und Erinnerung auseinander.

🏆🎬 Erfolge für FFC-Filme bei Lettlands Filmpreisen „Lielais Kristaps“ (.kristaps)

Am 1. März wurden in Riga die lettischen Filmpreise „Lielais Kristaps“ vergeben. Zu den Gewinnern gehört der Gothic-Fantasy-Animationsfilm DOG OF GOD () von Raitis Ābele und Lauris Ābele, der 2025 in der FFC-Sektion Midnight Madness lief.

Auch der Neo-Noir-Polizeithriller RED CODE BLUE von Oskars Rupenheits wurde mehrfach geehrt – u. a. als Bester Film und für Beste Regie.

👀 Gute Nachrichten für unser Publikum: Der preisgekrönte Film RED CODE BLUE wird beim 36. FilmFestival Cottbus 2026 (3.–8.11.) zu sehen sein!

🎬 Success for FFC Films at Latvia’s “Lielais Kristaps” Film Awards

On March 1, the Latvian National Film Awards “Lielais Kristaps” were presented in Riga. Among the winners is the Gothic fantasy animated film DOG OF GOD by Raitis Ābele and Lauris Ābele, which screened in the FFC section Midnight Madness in 2025.

The neo-noir police thriller RED CODE BLUE by Oskars Rupenheits also received multiple awards – including Best Film and Best Director.

👀 Good news for our audience: The award-winning film RED CODE BLUE will be screened at FilmFestival Cottbus 2026 (Nov 3–8).
