Especially for early career researchers, attending an international conference can be crucial for their career development. However, it can be difficult to get funding for international trips as someone at the very beginning of their scientific career. That's why we are so happy to be able to offer travel grants for our participants again this year! The Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research SCOR kindly supported us with travel grants for our international participants.

Our first awardee is Isa Muaze Galvão from Brazil. They are an undergrad student at Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF) and their academic background combines marine science, paleoceanography, and ocean literacy, with research experience developed through projects in both Brazil and Germany over the past several years. As a returning guest to ICYMARE, Isa's research interests directly connect to the conference by fostering dialogue between marine science, climate research, science communication, and environmental education.
