WIPE goes BORDERLINE!

We’re very happy to be part of BORDERLINE, the 1st Treptower Art Film Festival, a wonderfully weird project by Moritz Frei & Marian Luft.

For this occasion, WIPE has dug into the archive and curated a selection of films exploring borders, boundaries, control, exclusion, and all the other things humans have invented to make life unnecessarily complicated.

The films will travel along the former Berlin Wall strip between Flutgraben and Länderdreieck, on Moving Image Sculpture #6. Because apparently a cinema doesn’t have to stay in one place.

Come wander, watch, and cross some borders with us.

The first edition of WIPE Pantelleria has come to an end.

What we’re taking home, more than anything, is the people.

And the wind, And the capers. And the cipollotti. And Lorenzo’s keys. A few blurry memories. And a whole lot of smiles.

Thanks to the authors of the films and thanks to everyone who came. To everyone who watched the films with curiosity, laughed, applauded. And thanks in advance to everyone who’ll join us next year.

A huge thank you to Diego Pascal Panarello , whose performance took us all somewhere else. For a while, we all drifted into another dimension.

A special shout-out to the i sordi …although they probably won’t hear this.

Thank you to the Municipality of Pantelleria comunedipantelleria for believing in this little act of madness and supporting it.

Special thanks to the important support of Solopantelleria

Big love to for making sure we danced till the end.

Thank you to La Mulattiera Aps for keeping us alive with legendary sausages.

And thank you to everyone who helped make this happen: Pesciolino, Gianni, Leon, Dario, Miriam, Andrea with his legendary Funktion-One sound system, and everyone else who lent a hand, shared an idea, carried something heavy, fixed a problem, or simply brought good vibes. The list is way too long, but you know who you are.

Most of all, thank you to the magical place that hosted us: the island of Pantelleria. And especially La Collina di Loredana, which, for a few unforgettable days, became the center of our little universe.
And last but not least thanks to 🌹Loris Ⓐnimo Gentile🌹 & Co. la munnezza who somehow managed to connect us all.

WIPE exists to celebrate cinema made with freedom, passion, curiosity, and glorious imperfection. This weekend, you made that spirit real.

Imagine WIPE as a transatlantic flight in 1927.

The pilot has barely any flight hours, the radio is broken, the navigator is smoking something he definitely shouldn’t be smoking, and the airplane looks like it’s held together with spit.

Perfect.

Nobody knows if they’ll make it to the other side of the ocean.

Nobody is even entirely sure there is another side of the ocean.

That’s WIPE.

People stubbornly taking off with improbable films, questionable ideas, and a completely irrational faith in images.

Some crash.

Some land.

Some become legends.

Some are forgotten.

But every single one of them, if only for a moment, had the courage to leave the runway.

Because being an amateur means exactly that:

taking off before you’re ready.
