Aiming to gracefully challenge the comfort-zone and refresh the conventions of psy-trance, WWhrikkhas been surfing the globe with his strange waves for over a decade. Casting raw,dark-psychedelic dance spells for the seasoned listener. Exploring obscure,weird and funky music dimensions of his own produce.
Whrikk’s raw, heavy and surprising sets morph through the farther depths of the underground trance scene,to contemporary techno and hardware drenched productions of his own. Approaching 20 years of genre-bending live-sets around the planet and releasing uniquely crafted trance tracks on an extensive list of underground Psytrancelabels such as the Swedish Sanaton Records, Ezy’s ‚Tricky Grain‘ based in Copenhagen, Moon Koradji Records in Ukraine and many more.
Since a few years, Whrikk has been branching out with powerful and trippy techno sets at a few of the rapidly growing KØLT events in Amsterdam, one of the infamous Berlin-based Mala Junta‘ Haunted‘ editions and often touring exotic regions like Brasil and India, where he closed the first Boiler Room in Goa. Besides several self-released EP’s on his own WHRK Records, his striking productions have also found their way on to Schacke’s ‘Sacred Interface’ imprint, Mala Junta X Amniote’s benefit series, Berlin-based ‘Deestricted’ and again, a lot more.
Over the years, Matthijs has always been demonstrating his diverse musical ambition with several albums under his braindance/IDM/jungle alias WHRK, catchy synth-pop as ‘Mathi’ and melodic house, weirdo acid and hard-to-define electronics as ‘Riffa’.
