YONEX German Junior 2021 abgesagt
Die YONEX German Junior 2021 werden aufgrund der Corona-Pandemie und der damit verbundenen Einschränkungen in diesem Jahr nicht stattfinden können. In diesem Rahmen äußerte sich das Turniermanagement wie folgt:
„In Absprache mit dem Deutschen Badminton Verband haben wir uns dazu entschlossen, das Turnier in diesem Jahr nicht durchzuführen. Die Gesundheit und die Sicherheit aller Spieler, Betreuer und Offiziellen haben für uns höchste Priorität. Gleichzeitig ist es unser Anspruch, ein sportlich sowie organisatorisch hochwertiges Turnier anzubieten, dies können wir in diesen Zeiten alles andere als garantieren. Wir blicken jedoch voller Optimismus und Tatendrang nach vorn und freuen uns auf eine Fortsetzung der YONEX German Junior in Berlin im Jahr 2022. Bis dahin wünschen wir alles Gute und richte sportliche Grüße an alle Badmintonfans. Bleibt gesund!“

YONEX German Junior 2021 cancelled
The YONEX German Junior 2021 will not be able to take place this year due to the Corona pandemic and the associated restrictions. In this context, the tournament management commented as follows:
"In consultation with the German Badminton Federation, we have decided not to hold the tournament this year. The health and safety of all players, coaches and officials have the highest priority for us. At the same time, it is our claim to offer a tournament of high sporting and organisational quality, which we can anything but guarantee in these times. However, we are looking ahead full of optimism and zest for action and are looking forward to a continuation of the YONEX German Junior in Berlin in 2022. Until then, we wish all the best and send sporting greetings to all badminton fans. Stay healthy!"

Seht euch hier die Highlights des Finaltages an. Es war wie immer ein großartiges Turnier mit einem würdigen letzten Turniertag. Die Spielerinnen und Spieler haben an ihrer Leistungsgrenze gespielt und alle Zuschauer im Sportforum verzaubert.

Check out the highlights of the final day here. It was as always a great tournament with a worthy last tournament day. The players played at their performance limit and enchanted all spectators in the sports forum.

Dieses Bild zeigt, mit welcher Leidenschaft hier in Berlin an den Start gegangen wird. Für die meisten jungen Spielerinnen und Spieler sind diese Jugendweltranglistenturnier das Sprungbrett zu einer großen Karriere bei den Erwachsenen. Jüngste europäische Beispiele der letzten Jahre sind Viktor Axelsen oder auch Anders Antonsen, die ihre Fähigkeiten vor dem Berliner Publikum zeigen konnten.
Morgen um 9:00 Uhr geht es mit den beiden Halbfinals im Mixed los. Anschließen gegen 10:00 Uhr beginnen die Finalspiele in allen Disziplinen. Kommt im Sportforum vorbei oder schaut unseren Livestream.

This picture shows the passion with which people here in Berlin are starting out. For most young players, these youth world rankings tournaments are the springboard to a great career among adults. The most recent European examples in recent years are Viktor Axelsen or Anders Antonsen, who were able to show their skills in front of the Berlin audience.

Wow, die Qualität der Spiele war heute wieder einmal auf einem extrem hohen Niveau. Man hat gemerkt, dass es in den Viertel- und Halbfinalspielen um sehr viel ging. Kampfgeist, Schnelligkeit, Power und vor allem viel taktische Finesse sind nötig, um bei den YONEX German Junior ins Finale einziehen zu können.

Wow, the quality of the games today was once again at an extremely high level. You could see that the quarter and semi-final matches were about a lot of things. Fighting spirit, speed, power and above all a lot of tactical finesse are necessary to reach the final at the YONEX German Junior.

Badminton gehört von den Anforderungen, die an die Spielerinnen und Spieler gestellt werden, zu den komplexeren Sportarten. Bei den YONEX German Junior 2020 haben einige Athleten allerdings die Sportart verwechselt und nahmen an den inoffiziellen Hochsprungmeisterschaften teil. Seht selbst!

Matthias Kicklitz / Thuc Phuong Nguyen nicht zu stoppen
Das deutsche Mixed mit Matthias Kicklitz und Thuc Phuong Nguyen sind auch am Samstag nicht zu stoppen. Mit einem Sieg in drei Sätzen (16-21 21-16 21-14) sicherten sie sich den Einzug in das Viertelfinale. In spannenden Ballwechseln ließen sie am Ende den beiden Malaien Ong Ken Yon /Tan Zhing Yi kaum Chancen auf den Sieg. Der nächste Gegner aus Indonesien wartet bereits und ist als an Nummer 2 gesetztes Team ein weiterer harter Brocken auf dem Weg ins Halbfinale.

The German Mixed with Matthias Kicklitz and Thuc Phuong Nguyen can’t be stopped on Saturday either. With a win in three sets (16-21 21-16 21-14) they secured their place in the quarter finals. In exciting rallies they left the two Malays Ong Ken Yon /Tan Zhing Yi hardly any chance to win. The next opponent from Indonesia is already waiting and as the number 2 team they are another tough opponent on their way to the semi-finals.
