Berlinale Talents is the Berlin International Film Festival's talent development programme for the world's top 200 emerging filmmakers and series creators.

One goal of the Berlinale Talents public programme is to shine a light on corners of the film industry that are often underrepresented. In this conversation with production designers Francesca Di Mottola (“The Moment”), Cora Pratz (“The Weight”) and Inbal Weinberg (“Roofman”), we get a glimpse into their creative processes and find out how they develop visual coherence for the projects they are working on.

Whether you’re looking to get a peek into the making of your favourite films or are interested in learning more about the diverse crafts the film industry has to offer, head to our website to watch the full conversation. 🎬❤️

In February, filmmaker Alain Gomis joined Berlinale Talents and the World Cinema Fund for a conversation on filmmaking across borders, and stories shaped by disorientation, resilience, and characters seeking belonging.

With his latest film “Dao” celebrating its German cinema premiere today there’s truly no better time to hear Alain Gomis speak about the ideas and experiences behind the film before seeing it on the big screen. 📽️🍿

Next up in our series highlighting Talents International initiatives: Talents Guadalajara. 🎬

From April 19–22, the programme unfolded as part of the Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara under the theme “Vulnus America: Open Optics in Wounded Territories.”

Across four days, the participants came together for a series of intensive studios, conversations, and workshops led by outstanding voices from the industry such as Eugenio Caballero, Luisa Huertas, Mónica Lozano, Fernando Eimbcke, Sarasvati Herrera, Simón Wilches-Castro, David Barraza, Carlos Hernández, and Tomás Barreiro, among others, fostering spaces of exchange, mentorship, and collective exploration. Our Berlinale Talents heads Nikola Joetze and Tobias Pausinger, who experienced the festival first-hand, returned deeply impressed by the openness and the genuinely supportive spirit shared among Talents and guests.

We are very happy to congratulate the team in Guadalajara on another very successful and memorable edition and are already looking forward to the next! ❤️

We are very excited to announce the recipients of the first ever Gold Rush Pictures Berlinale Talents Lab Awards. This marks the beginning of our partnership with Gold Rush Pictures, who will sponsor up to three 'Golden Egg' prizes - awarding development grants totalling €15,000 to selected filmmakers from the Berlinale Talents Lab cohort. This signals the beginning of a multi-year partnership that we are very much looking forward to.

And now, it’s time to meet this year’s Golden Egg recipients and discover the projects that impressed our jury of Rebecca Lenkiewicz, Feo Aladag and Tom Tykwer. Reflecting on this year’s award-winners, the jury members shared the following statement:

"The Gold Rush Pictures Berlinale Talents Lab Awards celebrate projects where a distinctive artistic voice meets true urgency. From a strong and diverse field of eighteen, the jury selected three that combine bold vision with emotional precision and a clear sense of authorship. These are films that transform personal stories into resonant cinematic experiences - urgent, uncompromising, and deeply human - while reflecting the strength of emerging voices and the importance of supporting projects at a pivotal stage of their development."

As we revisit the Public Talks of Berlinale Talents 2026, this one has definitely stuck with us. Filmmaker Aidan Zamiri didn’t just attract a packed red carpet alongside his long‑time collaborator Charli xcx at the premiere of his debut feature "The Moment", he also joined us on stage at Berlinale Talents. 🎤✨

In a conversation with Aida Baghernejad, he reflected on his creative process, the role of chaos in filmmaking and beyond.
Whether you’ve seen "The Moment" and are curious about how it came to be, or simply want to feel creatively re‑energised, this conversation offers plenty to take away.
