Bridging Realities – 35 Years of Movement

18/10/2025

🎬 Turn up the volume, here comes the official aftermovie of this year’s record TAG DER CLUBKULTUR Festival Week!
Last Sunday marked the end of 10 incredible days full of disciplines, formats, and all the wild, beautiful facets that make up this unique thing we call club culture in Berlin.
Massive thanks to all the clubs and spaces, collectives and promoters, artists, thinkers, and creatives who hosted more than 100 events all over the city, each offering their own creative take on how club culture builds bridges and continues to transform over the past 35 years since reunification.
You’re what makes Berlin so special, in the past, now, and in the future. ❤️
Special thanks to and for funding and supporting the project since day one.

We hope you enjoy this video as much as we enjoyed this amazing week, which, despite all the challenges, turned out to be our most successful yet. Hopefully not the last one!

Before dropping the official aftermovie of this year’s festival week, here’s a little throwback to some of the many precious moments from last weekend. Our club cultural journey led us through Maghreb music and culture, the legacy of ballroom, a legendary drag opera and Latin cabaret. We dove into Berlin’s bass evolution, African rhythms with electronic sounds and the q***r hard groove scene. We immersed ourselves in expanded listening and sonic experimentation, and explored resistance history of the Zionskirche through music and the future of Berlin’s club culture through Afro-diasporic perspectives.

The final day of Festival Week brings everything full circle and the energy, the people, and the ideas that have shaped Berlin’s club culture for 35 years. Bridging Realities: 35 Years of Movement honors the past while building futures. What began as movement becomes connection, what started underground becomes shared vision. Thank you for being part of this year’s Festival Week! One more round of our 2025 Festival Program starts now!

From immersive music and dance by Earth Dog and Iterations () to saHHara (.berlin) at Crack Bellmer, the day blends workshops, film screenings, and SWANA beats — celebrating culture, care, and resilience.

Sunday Service 2025 (.bl) gathers the community for reflection, joy, and connection, inspired by the legacy of Ballroom and Black and Latinx trans women.

continues this spirit with film, poetry, and dialogue — honoring voices like Audre Lorde and Angel Maxine, and amplifying stories of s*x work, art, and liberation.

Collectives like SHIFT THE SPACE and Maaya () create transformative experiences, merging sustainability, subculture, and sound — shaping the next 35 years of fearless Berlin club culture.

The Festival Week closes not with an ending, but with a bridge — between past and future, movement and memory, resistance and joy.

Zwischen Kudamm und Kreuzberg, Rave und Realität, teilen sie ihre Geschichte von Zugehörigkeit und Veränderung, in der die Clubkultur das kollektive Gedächtnis ihrer Stadt ist.

On October 11, Berlin turns into a canvas for club culture: immersive sounds, experimental performances, and community-driven projects paint the city with creativity, activism, and underground energy.

Zug der Liebe e.V. connects club culture, civil society, and politics — uniting music, activism, and care through demonstrations, Social Raves, and community projects. Bulbul Berlin bridges global sounds and Berlin’s underground with an international program of live acts and performances.

Jiā La curates day-to-night experiences centering q***r, migrant, and Asian diasporic voices, while DECOLONOIZE amplifies BIPOC musicians through punk-driven concerts and DIY events. Amour Africain merges Afro-electronic sounds, design, and culture with community, bringing genres like Batida, GQOM, and Singeli to Berlin’s dance floors.

KUKUMU builds community through art, workshops, and live music, all run by volunteers. Aktionshaus fosters collaborative artistic research across disciplines, while UMZ UMZ and the multimedia collective create immersive, audiovisual rave experiences and installations that transform recycled materials into interactive art.

König continues its Drag King revolution with performance, theater, and community for trans, nonbinary, and q***r artists. The BSWC brings art and activism together, highlighting the voices and histories of Black s*x workers.

Berlin’s club culture once again shows its power to connect — through music, art, activism, and care.

Before we jump into the final days of this year’s festival week, we want to take a moment to look back at some inspiring events from the past days that showed how interdisciplinary and discursive club culture can be, and what “Bridging Realities” means from different perspectives within Berlin’s club culture.
We danced to thrilling live music by rising local artists from the African diaspora, explored short films about the scene in East and West Berlin before the fall of the Wall, were immersed in noisy and socio-critical sounds in an atelier, learned about the q***r connections to São Paulo and its sonic landscape, dove into a curated program and exhibition that reflected the resistant, collective, and q***r spirit of the local scene, and discovered how the Master’s program Sound Studies and Sonic Arts at UdK ties into Berlin’s club culture.
