Canadian composer, musician and producer Kara-Lis Coverdale bridges experimental electronics, minimalism and classical composition. Admired by Arvo Pärt and Brian Eno, she creates precise yet playful music that explores memory, time and repetition, hovering between reality and dream.

Her breakthrough Aftertouches earned year-end recognition from The Quietus, The Wire: Adventures In Modern Music and NPR. Her 2025 album From Where You Came, her first in eight years, was described by The Guardian as “quiet ecstasy from a composer without boundaries.”

A collaborator of Tim Hecker, Actress and Floating Points, Coverdale brings vivid, unpredictable live performances to festivals including CTM, MUTEK and Rewire.

A glimpse of Kara-Lis Coverdale performing CHANGES IN AIR at its world premiere at the Venice , joined by Sarah Davachi on electronic organ.

CHANGES IN AIR grew out of an exploration of wood, water, sunlight, glass and metal - translating their hidden qualities into sound. Originally imagined for a floating sauna overlooking the Oslo fjord, Coverdale’s five-part composition brings electric organ, modular synthesiser and piano into a shifting interplay of resonances, layers and sonic transformations.

On Sunday, 8 November, we’ll hear Kara-Lis Coverdale live in Prague. Moving between post-classical composition, ambient and experimental electronics, her music is precise and playful, hovering between the physical and a dream.

Join us for an intimate live encounter within the centuries-old walls of St. Francis Church, with Adam Badí Donoval also performing live.

Lunchmeat presents Kara-Lis Coverdale live, Adam Badí Donoval live

Adam Badí Donoval will present a new live show that builds on a soundtrack he composed for Milan Mazúr’s film Eva, set to premiere at the Jihlava International Documentary Film Festival.

His solo music builds around repeating and intertwining motifs, whether home-made tape loops, bass lines or instrumental and vocal samples. Much of his recorded output is inspired by both Central European literature and contemporary experimental music, and it balances gentleness and starkness, hope and despair, reflecting (on) the complexity of our lived experience.

Besides making music published on labels like The Trilogy Tapes, mappa and Maple Death Records, he also runs Warm Winters and 42far mixes and masters records, and engages in various freelance curatorial and educational initiatives.

Kara-Lis Coverdale has been active on the ambient and post-minimalist scene for over a decade. In that time she has released six full-length albums, written several film scores, and collaborated with the likes of Tim Hecker, Actress, and How to Dress Well. Today we dig deeper into her discography and read through some reviews of her work.

Her live shows are festival favorites at CTM Festival, MUTEK Montréal, and Unsound, among others. See her in the intimate setting of St. Agnes Cathedral in Prague on 8.11.

We’re bringing a shining star of post-classical, ambient and minimalist music, Canadian musician Kara-Lis Coverdale for a unique intimate concert in the majestic walls of St. Agnes cathedral.

Her vivid and dynamic live shows made her a festival favorite at CTM Festival, Rewire, Unsound and beyond. Her albums have landed on year-end lists by The Quietus, The Wire and NPR, with The Guardian calling her latest release “a quiet ecstasy from a composer without boundaries.”

She interlocks several musical systems and languages, drifting softly between them and playing with classical composition and research-driven modernism, the physical and the technological. Precise and playful, her music balances the edge between reality and a dream.

With seven releases to her name, Coverdale is also an avid collaborator, with credits on records by Tim Hecker, Lee Bannon and Actress, contributing to reworks of music by Caterina Barbieri and Alif Hilal (fka Lyra Pramuk). On stage, she has opened for Caribou, Big Thief and Death Grips, and performed as part of Floating Points’ Promises Ensemble alongside Shabaka Hutchings.
