We were absolutely honored to welcome the incredible actress Aliaksandra Vaitsekhovich at the Prague Film Festival!

She came to represent the powerful film Under the Grey Sky, directed by Mara Tamkovich - which just won the award for Best Feature Film! 🏆✨

This moving film tells the story of a journalist couple fighting to stay true to themselves despite the brutal repressions in Belarus after the 2020 protests. It is deeply inspired by the real life of Katsiaryna Andreyeva, a young journalist who is currently serving an 8-year sentence in a Belarusian prison.

A massive congratulations to the whole team for this well-deserved win and for bringing such a crucial story to the screen. Thank you for your courage and powerful storytelling!

Unfiltered joy from the 2026 Prague Film Festival awards announcement at

Behind every award is a film that took months or years to make, difficult decisions, small victories and a lot of persistence. Yesterday belonged to the filmmakers who saw their work connect with the audience and jury in Prague.

Congratulations to all winners, nominees and officially selected projects.

Dark forests, superstition and hidden cruelty captivated audiences at the Prague Film Festival 2026, where Eyes of the Forest won the Audience Award.

Set in an isolated 18th-century Estonian village, the film follows Elo, a young woman trying to survive in a fearful and deeply distrustful community. While villagers believe supernatural spirits hide within the surrounding forests, Elo gradually discovers that the real danger may come from the people closest to her.

Eyes of the Forest is directed by Anna Veisman, whose debut independent feature draws from her rural upbringing and multicultural background, combining folk atmosphere with psychological tension. Before returning to filmmaking in 2025, Veisman worked in set design, line production, and music industry PR, including collaborations with the Ukrainian electro-folk band Go_A.

Congratulations to the entire team behind Eyes of the Forest on this recognition from Prague audiences.

In April, Prague Film Festival hosted the industry program “Filming in War Zones – Generation Nika”, dedicated to the realities of filmmaking in regions affected by armed conflict.

The discussion focused on working with children and teenagers from the Kherson and Kharkiv regions, whose coming of age has been inseparably shaped by war. Through filmmaking, young participants were able to document their everyday reality and tell authentic stories about loss, resilience, friendship, and hope.

The program also explored the ethical and practical challenges of filming in active war zones, including crew safety, building trust within traumatised communities, and working responsibly with underage protagonists in high-risk environments.

Thank you to everyone who joined this important conversation during Prague Film Festival 2026.

Prague Film Festival 2026 at Kino Pilotů brought several days of premieres, discussions, and in-person encounters across contemporary cinema. The programme combined feature-length and short films exploring themes of identity, family, social responsibility, and conflict.

The festival also included filmmaker Q&As, an industry programme, and a student pitching forum. For several days, Prague became a space not only for showcasing films, but for dialogue and new collaborations.
