"I'LL BE BACK" - MICHAL DOKOUPIL UPDATES AFTER BRADDAN BRIDGE CRASH
Czech rider Michal Dokoupil has shared an update from Noble's Hospital after a heavy crash at Braddan Bridge brought his fortnight on the Isle of Man to an early end.
Writing on social media, Dokoupil said the bike changed direction and he lost the front, going straight into the barrier. He has broken both legs, with one operation already completed and a second expected to follow.
Remarkably, it was his first crash on the Island in 17 years and more than 50 starts.
"Everything had been going so well," he wrote. "I was loving being back in my favourite place on earth. Number 8, P3 in qualifying, the bike was working great and I was having an amazing time. Then, in a split second, everything changed."
He went on to thank his team, his mechanic, his wife, family and friends, along with the marshals and the medical team on the Island, calling them "absolute heroes". He also sent an apology to Mike Cookson for the damage to the Cookson Travel Yamaha TZ250, promising they would fix her and come back stronger.
"It's going to be a tough road back, but you know me. I'll be back. This isn't going to stop me. Not a chance."
