Tilt Studio's anniversary week brought three first-night regulars together for a photo and another season's finals into view. At Throne, a switch to Swiss pairing brought the nightly leaders together on Transformers with the weekly win still up for grabs.

TILT STUDIO PINBALL LEAGUE

Jeff Goad, Jim Smith and John Shopple were there when Tilt Studio's pinball league began on September 6, 2016. All three returned for Thursday's decennial celebration and a photo among the machines. Ten years later, they still haven't finished playing.

Shopple marked the occasion with his fourth qualifying win in five weeks, finishing at 31 in the 24-player field. Kevin Geoghan took second with 29, while Jared Harris, Greg Mohs, Adam Horton and Stephanie Turner shared third at 27.

John, Kevin and Adam entered the last round tied at 24. John won Elvira's House of Horrors over Jim, Drew Fones and Brad Vogus to reach 31. Stephanie won Pokémon with Kevin second, leaving him at 29. On The Addams Family, Jared took first, Eric Weber second and Adam third, bringing Jared and Adam together at 27.

Kevin's runner-up finish was his best recorded Tilt league qualifying result, improving on two previous sixth-place finishes. Wins on John Wick, The Beatles and Deadpool put him into the final-round tie for the lead. After returning to league with seventh last week, he climbed another five places.

Stephanie finished with three straight wins on Guardians of the Galaxy, Venom and Pokémon. She beat John on Guardians and Kevin on Pokémon, taking games from both of the night's top two. Greg won Guardians in the last round to join the tie for third. Paul Blanco and John Magyar shared seventh with 25.

TILT QUALIFYING: ONE WEEK LEFT

Shopple's fourth win gives him a perfect 400 in the best-four-of-six series and secures the No. 1 seed outright. Stephanie is second with 383 and Adam third with 380; both have also secured places in the 12-player Division A finals. The other three first-round byes remain in play.

Adam will return as defending champion after winning the August finals ahead of John and Hailey Buhrman. That ended John's run of three consecutive Tilt titles in March, April and June. Hailey, fresh from winning Electric Bat's finals Wednesday night, is chasing a league title she has never won here. She was third in August and runner-up the previous August. Her current fourth place at 377 puts her in the last bye position, with a first Tilt championship to pursue beyond it.

Brad sits fifth at 373, John Magyar sixth at 372 and Craig Bolton seventh at 367. Brad was runner-up in March's finals, while Craig took second in June. They are close enough to keep the bye race interesting, and Stephanie can secure one of those byes with a 94-point final qualifier.

Jared, Paul and Greg are much more dangerous than their current positions of 21st, 22nd and 23rd suggest. They each have only three scores, so a fourth result can move them well into contention.

Around 370 series points remains a useful target for a competitive shot at Division A. The current 356-point qualifying line is likely to rise as players add fourth scores or improve their counting results. Think of 370 as a score to aim for, not a guarantee of a finals place.

Jared has 295 from scores of 99, 99 and 97. An 83-point week guarantees him Division A; a 93 guarantees a bye. Paul has 288 from 98, 96 and 94, with a 90-point finale enough to guarantee A. Paul has also reached the final four in three of this year's four Tilt finals, including second in April.

Greg has 279, with scores of 98 and 97 in his last two appearances. A 91-point finale would bring him to that 370 target; a 99 would guarantee his place. April's fourth-place finalist still has a good route back, but he has more work to do than Jared and Paul.

Their opportunities put pressure on the players currently inside the top 12. Jeff, third in June's finals, is eighth at 365, Jim ninth at 363, James Turner tenth at 360 and Gavin Bowman 11th at 359. Jeff can reach the 370 target with a 91-point week, Jim with 92 and James with 93. All four have qualifying positions to defend.

David Vogt and Gaby Craft share the provisional last A position at 356. David can still finish as high as 376, Gaby 371 and Gavin 373. Eric Weber, just behind them, can reach 367. The current standings have plenty of room to change before the final qualifying night is over.

THRONE BREWING

Louis Rulon won the final qualifier with 29 points, taking both the night and the top seed for finals with his closing victory on Transformers.

The final night of qualifying shifted to Swiss pairing, grouping players by their standings as the night progressed. The opening round used series-position seeding and adjacent pairing, placing the four series leaders together on Cybernaut. Jack Felumlee won, Louis took second, Justin Rupp third and Mike McClure fourth.

By Round 5, Swiss pairing brought the night's top four together on Transformers. Hayden McElroy led with 26, Andrew Kohtz had 24, and Louis and James Wilson each had 22. Louis won, James took second, Andrew third and Hayden fourth. Transformers rearranged the top four.

Louis finished at 29, two clear of the other three. Jeremy Reiman won The Mandalorian to join James, Andrew and Hayden in the four-way tie for second at 27. Louis never finished below second in any of his five games.

A separate tiebreaker decided the second- and third-place nightly prizes: Andrew took second and Jeremy third. The official four-way tie for second remains the tournament result.

Louis has now won three consecutive qualifying nights, including last week's shared victory. His final-round win lifted him to 116 series points, ahead of Mike McClure at 114, Jack Felumlee at 108 and Justin Rupp at 105.

Those four have earned byes past the semifinals and directly into the Amazing Race. Every player who reaches the race will get to choose a position in the player order, with choices made in qualifying order. Louis gets first choice.

Each of the four brings something different into finals. Louis has the strongest closing run. Mike finished in the top three in each of the first three weeks, including a Week 2 win. Jack's winning 33 in Week 3 was the highest score of the entire qualifying season. Justin finished in the top ten every week.

The Outpost Arcade had a bowling prize waiting for a perfect pinball night, BRI reached its last chance to qualify for finals, and the races at Sierra Vista, Tilt Gamez and EBD all carried stakes into the final round.

THE OUTPOST ARCADE

Casey Reed brought a nonpareil scorecard to the top of the 23-player field: five games, five wins, 35 points.

He won JAWS, Sorcerer, Total Nuclear Annihilation, Blackout and Beetlejuice, completing a perfect night that earned him two free hours of bowling for five people. Now he gets two hours to find out whether the ball control transfers.

Casey has now won nine of his first ten games this season and both weekly tournaments. His 200 series points put him ahead of Sam Gauck and Scott Birlin, tied at 192, with Jeff Barthold at 190.

Olivia Helm won Doctor Who in the last round to catch Mark Lindbergh at 31 and share second. Olivia won four of her five games; Mark never finished below second. Kaydee Helm won her last three on No Fear, Dolly Parton and Star Trek to take fourth with 29, followed by Adam Horton at 27.

There are four qualifying weeks left, with the best four of six nights counting. The top eight qualify for A finals and the next eight for B.

BRI: FINAL QUALIFYING NIGHT

Mahina Hayashi closed with four straight wins to finish 8–2 and take first in BRI's 16-player field. Iron Maiden, Guardians of the Galaxy, RollerCoaster Tycoon and Black Knight: Sword of Rage supplied that closing run. Dave Halley finished second and Jim Smith third, both at 7–3.

Jason Barre, Jared Harris and John Magyar were at Electric Bat finals, leaving their BRI totals open to challenge. Nobody passed Jason or Jared: Jason held first with 391, while Dave climbed from sixth to tie Jared at 390. Geoff Bennett finished fourth with 389.

John had more movement around him. Mahina climbed from ninth to tied fifth with Gavin Bowman at 384, and Darren Coleman jumped from 16th to eighth. Both passed John, while Jim rose from 17th to join him in a tie for ninth. Jim's closing night put him into the qualifying sixteen.

At the cutoff, Jeff Janoski held the last place with 357, three ahead of Mateo Pena. Jeff and Paul Acosta, who qualified 15th, are making their first BRI league finals appearances.

BRI'S FINALS FIELD

Four previous league champions are back. Jared won the most recent finals in August. Noah Suchoff, this season's seventh-place qualifier, won the inaugural league in November and again in June. Gavin won in March, and John Magyar won in April.

Jason has finished third in three of the previous five finals and now starts from the top qualifying spot. Geoff has been runner-up twice. Jim was runner-up in the inaugural league and fourth in June, while Chad Beguin, this season's 11th qualifier, was runner-up in January.

Mahina has made every league finals field since the format began, with a best finish of tied fifth. Dave's best was fifth in August. Darren took fourth in the inaugural finals, and Scott Pobieglo, who qualified 13th, finished third in June.

Lucas Wonnacott and John Heil complete the field in 12th and 14th. Lucas's best league finals result was seventh in April; John finished tenth in August.

SIERRA VISTA PINBALL LEAGUE

Steve Ogle won four games and finished second in the other to lead Sierra Vista's 15-player field with 33. Two of those wins came on JAWS. Apparently, going back in the water was the right decision.

Thomas Guerrero also won four games, but his fourth place in their Round 2 JAWS meeting made the difference. Thomas finished tied second with Bob Bodman at 29; Bob stayed in the top two in every game.

Noah Stone entered the last round just two behind Steve. Steve beat Dave Pineda on King Kong to finish his winning night, while Bob won Pokémon and Noah took third in that group. Noah finished fourth overall with 27, followed by Dave at 25.

After two weeks, Steve leads the series with 59, followed by Bob at 56 and Dave at 54.

TILT GAMEZ WEEKLY

Joel Daniel opened with wins on Foo Fighters, Venom and Black Knight: Sword of Rage, building the lead that carried him to first in the 16-player weekly with 29.

He entered the final round five ahead of Jason Webb, the only player still able to pass him outright. They met on Sonic, where Joel finished third and Jason fourth. Jack Felumlee won Star Wars to climb into second overall with 25.

Allen Krahn's closing win on The Walking Dead brought him to 23, joining Robert Paluc and Justin Miller in a three-way tie for third.

EBD PHX PINBALL LEAGUE

David Sanders and Carlo Vernale entered the last round tied at 17, then met on Foo Fighters with first place at stake. David won, Ivan Korolevich took second and Carlo third. That gave David the eight-player weekly win with 24, while Carlo shared second with Stephan Klein at 20.

Carlo had beaten David in their opener on Harry Potter. David finished his night by winning Dungeons & Dragons and Foo Fighters, turning the rematch into his second weekly victory in a row. Nick Schwartz took fourth with 18.

David leads the series with 200, followed by Nick at 196 and Sophia at 192. Two weeks are down, with the best four of six nights counting.

Electric Bat League Finals · September 9, 2026

Electric Bat's 24-player finals had comebacks, deciding games and a stream full of matchup predictions. By the end of the night, the league had a first to celebrate.

HAILEY BUHRMAN MAKES ELECTRIC BAT HISTORY

Hailey Buhrman is Electric Bat League's first woman champion, and she secured the title with a game to spare.

After a first-round bye, Hailey swept Matt Jackson on Pulp Fiction and Venom. Kenny Chan put her one loss from elimination by winning Fish Tales in the next round. Hailey answered with wins on Pokémon and Nitro Ground Shaker to take the match 2–1 and reach the final four.

Then she won World Cup Soccer. Then she won Jurassic Park.

Those two wins gave Hailey an unassailable lead over Mark Pearson, Brian Pinney and Ty Bull. Big Game was still waiting, but the biggest result of the night was already settled. Hailey finished second on it to close with 10 points and her first Electric Bat title.

Mark won Big Game to secure second with 7, followed by Brian with 3 and Ty with 1.

THREE DECIDERS, THREE WINS

Mark's route from the No. 13 seed to runner-up used all nine available head-to-head games. If there was a deciding game on offer, he was taking it.

He recovered from an opening loss to Walter Dony on TNA, winning Aerosmith and Firepower to advance. Against Noah Anderson, Mark won Star Wars: Fall of the Empire, lost Charlie's Angels, then won Sorcerer. Second-seeded Jared Harris took him to another decider after they split Pokémon and Nitro Ground Shaker. Mark won Fish Tales to reach the final four.

Ty took a shorter route, sweeping Greg Drewes on World Cup Soccer and Jurassic Park, then John Shopple on Pulp Fiction and Venom.

Brian and Nate Tornero split their first two games, with Brian winning TNA and Nate answering on Aerosmith. Their deciding game on Firepower was streamed, and it was close enough to come down to bonus. Brian won to take the last place in the final four.

Nate had already stopped three-time champion Nicholas Zachry from winning a third title in a row. After losing Terminator 2, Nate won Bond 60th and Solar Ride to knock out the defending champion and reach Round 3.

The opening round also belonged to two players who had qualified right at the edge. No. 24 Amber Valdivia lost Firepower to Rachel Bess Hernandez, then won TNA and Aerosmith. No. 23 Stephanie Turner lost Black Knight: Sword of Rage to Andrew Roesch, then won Hotdoggin' and Getaway. Both came back to advance 2–1.

A NIGHT OF DECIDING GAMES

Eleven of the twenty head-to-head matches went to a third game, giving Serge plenty to work with on the stream. His statistics and matchup graphics added another layer to the games, while chat could make its own matchup predictions. The championship graphic's verdict: “Chat missed it!”

Congratulations to Hailey on a league first, and to Mark, Brian and Ty on their final-four finishes!

Six weeks of Electric Bat qualifying came down to one last night, with first-round byes and places in Wednesday's finals still changing hands. Now comes the harder question: who can turn a good seed into a championship?

ELECTRIC BAT: ONE LAST NIGHT TO MOVE

Brian Pinney and Noah Anderson shared the weekly win in an 85-player field, each finishing with four wins and one second. Brian has now shared first on consecutive Tuesdays and won three of the six qualifying nights this series.

Rachel Bess Hernandez made them earn it. She opened with wins on Eight Ball, Star Wars: Fall of the Empire and Hotdoggin', then finished second to John Shopple on Avengers. That left Rachel, Brian and Noah tied for the lead entering the final round.

Brian closed with a win on Cleopatra, and Noah won Sinbad to complete a run of four straight victories. Rachel finished third on Night Rider behind Garrett Nelson and Paul Hoeprich, leaving Brian and Noah together at 33. The co-winners never faced each other during the night.

Jared Harris finished third with 31, followed by Mark Pearson, Rachel, Janel Valdez and Hailey Buhrman tied fourth with 29. Hailey's route deserves particular attention heading into finals: fourth on Eight Ball, then wins on Johnny Mnemonic, Black Knight: Sword of Rage, Venom and Charlie's Angels. Her Venom victory came against Jared, who otherwise finished with three wins and two seconds.

Janel opened with two wins and followed them with three seconds. It was a strong closing effort, but the qualifying line would leave her just outside the field.

WHO GOT IN, AND WHO GETS A BYE?

Brian climbed from fourth to first in the final standings, finishing on 388 and taking the top qualifying spot for the third consecutive series. Jared made the biggest move into the bye group, jumping from tied 12th to second on 384. Hailey moved from sixth to third on 383, her highest finals seed yet.

The eight players who skip Round 1:

Kenny finished 11 points ahead of ninth-place Rachel for the last bye. Just 11 points also separate Brian in first from Nicholas in sixth.

At the other end of the field, Amber Valdivia made her fourth appearance count. She arrived in 40th with only three scoring weeks, added an 84, and climbed sixteen places to claim the final qualifying spot on 314. John Magyar and Stephanie Turner also moved into the top 24, while Jim Smith, Travis Yoder and Andre Gierczynski finished outside it.

Janel is first alternate on 310, four points behind Amber. Her tied-fourth finish Tuesday got her close, but couldn't quite finish the climb.

Across the six weeks, 153 different players took part, with an average field of 93. Twenty-four now have a place in the finals, and nobody in that group has announced they will miss Wednesday. The matchups below are tentative, but likely.

CAN NICHOLAS MAKE IT THREE?

Nicholas Zachry arrives as the two-time defending champion, having won in June from the 11th seed and in July from eighth. He starts sixth this time. Even reaching the final four again would continue an impressive run: he has been there in four of this year's five finals. July's title required a championship tiebreaker against Andrew Roesch, so the latest trophy was hardly handed over without a fight.

A third straight win would also be Nicholas' fourth title in the current top-24 format, matching John Shopple. Brian has three as well, while Shopple can extend his own total to five.

There is still a larger number above all of them. Roland Nadeau won seven titles in this format, including five straight from October 2023 through April 2024. Roland moved away. His record stayed put.

Brian won the March and May championships, but his last two finals ended in his opening match despite being the top seed. In June, Andrew Kohtz beat him 2-1. In July, Jason Barre did the same. Both opponents entered those brackets as the 24th seed. After six weeks of work to earn the No. 1 seed, going out in the first matchup is certainly a bitter disappointment, especially twice in a row. Back on top of qualifying again, Brian will be looking to flip the script Wednesday.

Shopple has reached the top eight in all five finals this year, finishing second in June and third in July. He enters as the fifth seed, looking to turn those consecutive podium finishes into his fifth championship.

Hailey's third seed brings a different kind of opportunity. She has never started an Electric Bat final this high, and Tuesday's four-win response to an opening fourth is a useful reminder of how quickly she can put a rough game behind her. Can she carry that form through the best-of-three matches and into the final four?

Ty Bull returns at fourth after missing both the June and July finals. His most recent appearance was in May, when he finished tied for third. He led qualifying before the final week and ends it with a bye, so this is a return with a strong starting position and a recent final-four finish to build on.

Jared's second seed comes with championship credentials. He won the North Mountain Brewing league finals in June and the BRI Taproom league finals in August. Moving to Arizona midyear left him with ground to make up in the state standings, but those titles and his busy schedule of tournaments and leagues make his pursuit of the top 24 and a state finals berth worth following.

The threats extend well beyond the bye group. The redoubtable Mark Pearson starts 13th with a previous title and seven final-four appearances. He swept Nicholas 2-0 in May and finished fourth in June. Andrew Roesch, the 10th seed, has reached the top eight in all four finals he has played this year and came within a championship tiebreaker of beating Nicholas in July.

This year's results give everyone playing Round 1 a reason to believe: nine of the twenty final-four places have gone to players who started without a bye. Two of the five champions started 11th, Nate Tornero in February and Nicholas in June.

Roesch also leads Wednesday's Round 1 field with 11 upset wins over higher-seeded opponents. Jason Barre and Keegan Crandall have eight each, followed by Nate Tornero and Kevan Carter with seven.

ROUND 1: FAMILIAR OPPONENTS AND NEW PAIRINGS

9. Rachel Bess Hernandez vs. 24. Amber Valdivia
Rachel just missed a bye; Amber just made the field. Amber has two upset wins, including a 2-1 victory over top-seeded Mark Pearson in February 2024.

10. Andrew Roesch vs. 23. Stephanie Turner
Roesch won their February 2024 finals meeting 2-0. His 11 upsets include a 2-1 win over John Shopple this March that sent him into the final four. Stephanie enters after moving inside the qualifying line on the last night.

11. Cody Winant vs. 22. John Magyar
Cody leads their previous finals matches 2-1. Magyar won in February 2024; Cody answered in May 2024 and April 2025. All three matches ended 2-0. Cody has six upset wins, including a sweep of Nicholas Zachry in April 2024. Magyar also brings two championships in this format, including the inaugural August 2023 event.

12. Jason Barre vs. 21. Matt Jackson
Jason's eight upset wins include beating Brian Pinney in September 2024 and again this July, plus John Shopple in August 2025, all by 2-1 scores. Matt has five upset wins of his own, three of them in consecutive rounds on his way to the July 2025 final four.

13. Mark Pearson vs. 20. Walter Dony
Their previous meeting went the distance, with Mark winning 2-1 in September 2023. Walter has five top-eight finishes and swept higher-seeded John Shopple 2-0 to reach the final four in May 2024.

14. Ken Klawitter vs. 19. Greg Drewes
Greg has six upset wins, including 2-0 sweeps of Mark Pearson in July 2024 and June 2025. He reached the top eight again this July; Ken earned his strongest qualifying finish of the year.

15. Wesley Worosello vs. 18. Keegan Crandall
Keegan has won both previous finals meetings, 2-1 in December 2024 and 2-0 in June 2025. He has also twice reached the final four by beating three higher-seeded opponents in a row, in January and June 2025. Wesley comes off a top-eight finish in July.

16. Nate Tornero vs. 17. Kevan Carter
Two former champions, each with five final-four appearances and seven upset wins, meet in the closest-seeded pairing. Kevan won their May 2024 match 2-0. Nate's upsets include Mark Pearson in January 2024 and a 2-0 sweep of top-seeded John Shopple on the way to this February's championship. Kevan finished fourth in July after back-to-back upsets of Keegan Crandall and Greg Drewes.

NEW GAMES, FAMILIAR STAKES

All eight numbered banks have changed at least one machine since July. Bank 2, used for July's final four, keeps Firepower and TNA but replaces Rush with Aerosmith. Bank 4 keeps Hotdoggin' and Getaway, with Black Knight: Sword of Rage replacing Uncanny X-Men.

That fourth bank has been productive for Roesch: he won his opening match there in March, May and June, then won his Round 3 match there in July. The new lineup gives him another version to solve if he gets back to it.

MARANA: DAN GOES TEN FOR TEN

Dan Gauthier went 10-0 in Marana's 22-player Flip Frenzy at Catalina Brewing Company. He beat eight different opponents across nine machines, closing with a win over Shaun Lewin on Royal Flush. The frenzy was everybody else's problem.

Eric Shaffer, Robert Medwedeff and Wayne Saeger shared second at 7-2, with Kim Lehrling fifth at 7-3. Eric won his last five matches and Robert his last four. Wayne started 5-0 before Andy Nicholls stopped the run on Jurassic Park.

With two qualifying weeks remaining, Wayne leads Andy 527-512. Dan jumped from 17th to 10th on 396, just behind Kim's 397 and current eighth-place Bob Bodman's 400.

Keep an eye on John Finnegan in 14th, too. His 365 points come from only four weeks, and his best-four total leads the field. In a best-six-of-eight series, two more counting scores could change his position considerably.

Five players entered the last round within three points of the lead at North Mountain Brewing. With one qualifying week left after Monday, the series standings had a few surprises waiting, too.

Jared Harris won the 21-player night with three wins and two seconds, finishing one point ahead of Alex Kee. Godzilla supplied one of those wins on familiar ground: Jared had won four of his five previous recorded North Mountain league games on it. Monday added another.

The last round began with Louis Rulon leading at 25, Jared, Mike McClure and David Sanders on 23, and Alex on 22. Jared and Mike met on Rush with a chance to separate themselves. Jared won, Mike took second, and Jared reached 30.

In another group, Alex won Godzilla ahead of David to reach 29. It was Alex's fourth win of the night, including a Round 4 victory over Jared on Iron Maiden. His fourth on Avengers was the costly exception. Jared never finished below second and kept the edge.

Louis needed a Cactus Canyon win to finish above everyone, while second would have matched Jared. Russ Wonnacott won ahead of Stephan Klein and JD Ayers, leaving Louis fourth in the game and fifth overall. Mike and David shared third at 28, each completing a night of two wins and three seconds.

Dave Halley finished with a three-game winning streak. After thirds on Metallica and Cactus Canyon, he found a productive place to restart on King Kong, where he had won six of nine previous recorded North Mountain league games. Wins on Godzilla and Game of Thrones followed, lifting him to sixth. Two monsters and a throne made a useful closing itinerary.

Stephany Miller took seventh and collected her first recorded North Mountain league win on Avengers, beating Kevin Erickson, Russ and Jim Smith. Her previous recorded finishes on it were third, second and third. This time she led the group.

One week to settle the series

Each player's best four results count toward the eight-player finals field. Jim Smith and Louis share the series lead at 390, while David's fourth appearance lifted him from 12th to third at 385. All three have secured finals places, with their seeds still to settle.

Jared sits 14th. The fine print is doing a lot of work.

His three appearances have produced 100, 99 and 100 series points. A fourth score of at least 85 guarantees him a finals place; 99 or more guarantees the No. 1 seed outright. Last season's top qualifier still has a direct route back to the top, despite appearing well down the current standings.

Mike holds fourth at 378, with Dave and Xris Rincon tied fifth at 374 and Kevin Jin seventh at 372. Matthew Shanks has a tenuous hold on eighth at 371: Stephan is just one behind, and Dena Brooks is three back. Matthew and Kevin Jin are both chasing finals places after finishing outside the top eight last season.

Stephan, Dena and JD Ayers still have room to push into the eight with a strong final week. Kevin Erickson is another player whose current position understates his opportunity: he is 15th with only three scores and can still reach 377. The players already inside the field have plenty to defend, especially with Jared one counting score away from joining them.
