IL CORTOMETRAGGIO”MASKS OFF” RICEVE IL MERCURIUS PRIZE A ZURIGO
Adolescenti israeliani e palestinesi uniti nel progetto teatrale di Angelica Edna Calo Livne

Lunedì 25 agosto 2025, nell’ambito del prestigioso XXIII Congresso Internazionale di Psicologia Analitica a Zurigo, il cortometraggio “Masks Off”, diretto da Matteo Bini, ha ricevuto il Mercurius Prize.
Il documentario illustra un progetto teatrale che ha avuto vita nel nord di Israele riunendo ragazzi e ragazze di diversa estrazione religiosa e culturale: adolescenti ebrei, cristiani e musulmani che sono diventati attraverso il teatro e la danza, ambasciatori di pace e di una possibile convivenza, nonostante il conflitto in corso.
Al centro e all’origine di questo progetto, una donna, vera e propria artefice di pace: Angelica Edna Calò Livne. Educatrice, docente in ambito internazionale e autrice, Angelica Edna Calo Livne è stata candidata sia al Premio Nobel per la Pace nel 2005, che al Premio Sacharov.
Chiara Tozzi, Direttore Artistico del Mercurius Prize, ha sottolineato durante la cerimonia di premiazione: “Il lavoro di Angelica Edna Calo Livne è solo apparentemente utopico. Di fatto, invece di concentrarsi sui problemi e le tragedie che dividono i giovani palestinesi ed ebrei, Angelica dà loro voce, facendo sì che siano essi stessi ad affrontare i propri conflitti, ad esprimere le proprie storie e la speranza di un cambiamento. Angelica Edna Calo Livne si batte per raggiungere un diverso modo di stare al mondo, attraverso la coesistenza di persone solitamente nemiche.Il suo coraggioso progetto può essere dunque paragonato alla “funzione trascendente” della psicologia junghiana: quel processo di mediazione tra tendenze opposte finalizzato al raggiungimento di un “simbolo unificante” che consenta la transizione verso un nuovo atteggiamento psicologico.”
Alla presenza di diversi membri del Direttivo del Mercurius Prize, il Presidente Murray Stein ha consegnato il premio ad Angelica Edna Calo Livne, che ha poi tenuto una vivace ed emozionante sessione di domande e risposte con il pubblico presente.

THE SHORT FILM “MASKS OFF ” AWARDED THE MERCURIUS PRIZE IN ZURICH”
Israeli and Palestinians Teens meet in a theater project by Angelica Edna Calo Livne

On Monday 25 August 2025, in the beautiful venue of the prestigious XXIII International Congress of Analytical Psychology in Zurich, the short film “Masks Off”, directed by Matteo Bini, was awarded the Mercurius Prize.
The documentary film is about a theater project in Northern Israel that brings together young people from diverse religious and cultural backgrounds: Jewish, Christian and Muslim teenagers become, through theater and dance, ambassadors of peace and of possible coexistence, despite the ongoing conflict.
At the heart of this project is one woman, a true catalyst for peace: Angelica Edna Calò Livne. An educator, international lecturer and author, Angelica Edna Calo Livne nominated for both the Sakharov Prize and the Nobel Peace Prize in 2005.
As Chiara Tozzi, Artistic Director of the Mercurius Prize, highlighted during the award ceremony “Angelica Edna Calo Livne’s work is only apparently utopian. In fact, instead of focusing on the problems and tragedies dividing Palestinian and Jewish young people, Angelica gives them a voice and allows them to face their conflicts and to express their stories and hope for a change. She fights to achieve a different way of being in the world, through the coexistence of people who are usually enemies. Her courageous project can be compared to the “transcendent function” in Jungian psychology — a process of mediating between opposite tendencies in order to create a “uniting symbol” that enables the transition to a new psychological attitude.”
In the presence of several committee members, the Mercurius Prize President Murray Stein presented the award to Angelica Edna Calo Livne, who then engaged in a lively and moving Question & Answers session with the audience.

On Monday 25 august the short film “Masks off” directed by Matteo Bini, will be awarded with Mercurius Prize, during the IAAP Congress in Zurich.

Despite the Israel/Palestine conflict, a teacher is helping Jewis, Christian and Muslim teens become emissaries of hope through dance and theatre. One-woman catalyst for peace: Angelica Edna Calo Livne.

Murray Stein, Chiara Tozzi e Yehuda Abramovitch will host the awarding ceremony.

Umberto Galimberti commenta "Un milione di granelli di sabbia"

Eva Pattis è una psicoanalista che ha avuto il coraggio di uscire dal suo studio privato per affrontare le situazioni tragiche che la Storia infligge anche a chi, come i bambini e gli adolescenti, li subisce senza avere i mezzi per elaborarli. Chiusi nel loro silenzio, bambini e adolescenti spesso non sono in grado di parlare delle tragicità che hanno subito o di cui sono stati testimoni. E anche le parole che gli psicologi, chiamati in loro soccorso, rivolgono, ritornano mute e affogate nel loro silenzio.
Per questo Eva Pattis ha praticato con loro quel metodo non verbale dei “milioni granelli di sabbia” dove si dispongono piccole miniature di uomini, donne, animali, oggetti che consentono di “ricordare” nel senso di “ri-accordarsi” con quanto è stato vissuto, senza aver trovato le parole per dirlo. In questo modo il trauma riemerge e, attraverso la scena che sulla sabbia ricostruisce, il bambino recupera e rende comunicativo il trauma che si era reso inaccessibile alle parole. Questa pratica, che Eva Pattis ha inaugurato come metodo del Sandwork Espressivo, è stata sperimentata con i bambini e gli adolescenti del genocidio degli Yazidi in Iraq, dei terremotati in Cina e dei reduci del conflitto in Ucraina, consentendo a tanti bambini e adolescenti di comunicare quello che avevano chiuso dentro nel loro silenzio enigmatico e buio, che le parole non erano in grado di aprire. ANDREA DEAGLIO RICEVE IL MERCURIUS PRIZE

Il 18 ottobre 2024, presso il Cinema Beltrade di Milano, si è svolta la proiezione in anteprima nazionale e internazionale del film Un milione di granelli di sabbia, di Andrea Deaglio. Erano presenti il regista Andrea Deaglio, il produttore del film Matteo Tortone, Eva Pattis Zoja, psicologa analista C**A (IAAP) protagonista del film, Enrico Ferrari, presidente dell’associazione junghiana C**A (IAAP) e Chiara Tozzi, psicologa analista AIPA (IAAP) e direttrice artistica del Mercurius Prize.

Il film è stato accolto con emozione ed entusiasmo dal pubblico che gremiva la sala.

Dopo la proiezione si è svolta la cerimonia di consegna del Mercurius Prize.

Chiara Tozzi ha consegnato a nome del Mercurius Prize Committee il premio ad Andrea Deaglio, e una speciale menzione ad Eva Pattis Zoja.

Questa la motivazione del Mercurius Prize a Un milione di granelli di sabbia:

Il Mercurius Prize Committee è lieto di assegnare il MERCURIUS PRIZE ad Andrea Deaglio, regista del film “A Million Grains of Sand” e ad Eva Pattis Zoja for ruolo di protagonista del film. I membri del Committee lodano la qualità del film sia per il suo messaggio che per la sua tecnica cinematografica.
Il Premio Mercurius viene assegnato a film che mostrano una sensibilità per la verità e la profondità psicologica e che esprimono anche un’attenzione premurosa per i valori umani fondamentali e i diritti umani. Entrambe le dimensioni sono superbamente esemplificate in Un milione di grani di sabbia.
È in riconoscimento dell’eccezionale risultato ottenuto con questo film che siamo lieti di premiare Andrea Deaglio ed Eva Pattis Zoja.

Andrea Deaglio receives Mercurius Prize
On 18 October 2024 the national and international première of the film Un milione di granelli di sabbia, by Andrea Deaglio, was held at the Cinema Beltrade in Milan. In attendance were director Andrea Deaglio, the film's producer Matteo Tortone, Eva Pattis Zoja (psychoanalyst - C**A-IAAP) who stars in the film, Enrico Ferrari, president of the Jungian Association C**A (IAAP), and Chiara Tozzi (psychoanalyst - AIPA-IAAP) artistic director of the Mercurius Prize.

The film was received with excitement and enthusiasm by the audience that crowded the hall.

After the screening, the Mercurius Prize award ceremony was held.

Chiara Tozzi presented on behalf of the Mercurius Prize Committee the award to Andrea Deaglio, and a special mention to Eva Pattis Zoja.

This was the motivation for the Mercurius Prize to A Million Grains of Sand:

The Mercurius Prize Committee is pleased to award the MERCURIUS PRIZE to Andrea Deaglio, Director of the film, A Million Grains of Sand, and to Eva Pattis Zoja for her starring role in the film. The members of the Committee commend the quality of the film both for its message and its cinematic technique.

The Mercurius Prize is awarded for films whose sensitivity to psychological truth and depth is shown in the work and that also express caring attention to fundamental human values and human rights. Both dimensions are superbly exemplified in A Million Grains of Sand.

It is in recognition of their outstanding achievement in creating this film that we are pleased to award Andrea Deaglio and Eva Pattis Zoja.
