Das UrRock Music Festival wurde 2018 als gemeinnütziger Verein gegründet.
Die drei Gründer, Patrick Jakober (aus Wilen bei Sarnen, OW), Stephan Brüderlin (ebenfalls aus Wilen) und Jimmy Hollmichel (aus dem Kanton Nidwalden) sind häufige Konzertbesucher und leidenschaftliche Hardrock und Metal Fans.
Unter dem Motto: Weniger Besucher und mehr Qualität entwickelten sie über die letzten Jahre ein einzigartiges Konzerterlebnis! Das erste Rock- und Metal-Festival der Urkantone (OW, NW, UR und SZ) eroberte im Sturm die Rockszene in der ganzen Schweiz.
Bereits der erste Anlass im Jahre 2018 war ein grosser Erfolg. Headliner waren damals die Alternative Metal Band „Emil Bulls“ aus München (D) und die bekannte Schweizer Rockband „Shakra“. Obwohl der Verein damals finanziell ein grosses Minus verbuchen musste, wurde bereits während dem Festival klar, das UrRock Music Festival muss weiter bestehen bleiben.
Im Jahre 2019 (Impressionen findet ihr auf unserer Festival-Page) konnte das Festival bereits ein volles Haus melden. Bands wie „Primal Fear“, „RAGE“, „Kissin Dynamite“ oder „Eclipse“ bestätigten den Erfolg aus dem Jahre 2018. Das UrRock Music Festival wurde nun auch in der Presse als jährliches Kulturereignis im Bereich Rock- und Metal gefeiert. (siehe auch: http://www.urrock.ch/presse-medien)
Während der Planungsphase für das UrRock Music Festival 2020 wurden die Kantone auf den Event aufmerksam und haben sich entschlossen, den Event in Zukunft zu fördern und als Kulturbeitrag für die nächsten Jahre zu sichern. Leider konnte der Anlass im Jahr 2020 aufgrund der Corona-Situation nicht durchgeführt werden.

The UrRock Music Festival was founded in 2018 as a non-profit association. The three founders, Patrick Jakober (from Wilen near Sarnen, OW), Stephan Brüderlin (also from Wilen) and Jimmy Hollmichel (from the canton of Nidwalden) are frequent concertgoers and passionate hard rock and metal fans.
Under the motto: Less visitors and more quality, they have developed a unique concert experience over the last years! The first rock and metal festival of the original cantons (OW, NW, UR and SZ) took the rock scene by storm throughout Switzerland.
Already the first event in 2018 was a great success. Headliners at that time were the alternative metal band "Emil Bulls" from Munich (D) and the well-known Swiss rock band "Shakra". Although the association had to book a big minus financially at that time, it became clear already during the festival that the UrRock Music Festival must continue to exist.
In 2019 (Impressions you can find on our Festival-Page) the festival could already announce a full house. Bands like "Primal Fear", "RAGE", "Kissin Dynamite" or "Eclipse" confirmed the success of 2018. The UrRock Music Festival was now also celebrated in the press as an annual cultural event in the field of Rock- and Metal. (see also: http://www.urrock.ch/presse-medien)
During the planning phase for the UrRock Music Festival 2020, the cantons became aware of the event and decided to promote it in the future and secure it as a cultural contribution for the next years. Unfortunately the event could not be realized in 2020 due to the corona situation.
We are all looking forward to the 2021 edition!
