SIÂN DAVEY | UK
THE GARDEN

During a midwinter marked by crises, Siân Davey’s son Luke imagined a radical act of renewal: to transform their long-abandoned garden into a space alive with the connections of wildflowers, pollinators, and people. From this simple yet profound proposition emerged The Garden: an ongoing, intimate pilgrimage cultivating collective imaginations and botanicals alike.

Together, they cleared and reawakened the land, sowing native seeds and caring for the space. As the garden flourished with the heterogeneity of a bursting diverse flora of mullein, poppies, sunflowers, and cornflowers, so did its inhabitants: neighbours, strangers, the marginalised, the grieving, and the hopeful all find a home and a dignifying space to bloom as themselves in the garden. Each visitor became both subject and collaborator, contributing to an evolving narrative of intimacy and belonging.

The garden unfolds as a profound metaphor for cultivating humanity against an increasingly oppressive political climate: lovingly expansive and without division.

MARTIN PARR | UK
(ALL WE NEED IS) LOVE

Passionate about people and life, Martin Parr spent his whole career documenting society in its ordinary routines and quirkiness. A keen observer, his images capture social behaviours with subtle irony that makes us smile. Often focused on the British, his recordings of life and its rituals always have a universal resonance.

This exhibition was conceived as a hymn to love. Love for Parr’s work, a small but happy celebration of his vision; and love as the glue that holds this hectic world together and that he managed to capture so wittingly.

A section of the exhibition is dedicated to his series Bored Couples. It depicts couples, including himself and his wife Susan, embodying the loss of excitement within a relationship. The other images are a selection of (maybe) non-bored couples, embracing, kissing, passionate about their being together. Or so it seems. “The icing on the cake” we can say, are actual tacky cakes and sweets that are in their own caustic manner an ode to love.

In Tina’s work, food is living matter, more promise than nourishment. The images arise from rigorously constructed sets and from post-production that includes the use of AI to add selected details, without altering the structure of the shot, making the artifice perceptible and reactivating the advertising aesthetics of the 1960s and 1970s, with glossy surfaces, amplified colors, and impeccable happiness.

Abundance seduces, along with the construction of the image itself, which calls the gaze while hinting at its mechanism. It becomes the lexicon of consumer society, inviting surrender, inviting desire. Then something cracks. Excess exceeds measure, stretching the order that sustains it. Perfection attracts and exposes its construction. Happiness takes the form of performance, the body becomes a parameter, and food a tool oscillating between discipline and slip. Accumulation turns into vertigo. Where does desire end and taste begin to change?
