Day 2 · Between Legends and the Sea

A discovery route shaped by the quiet beauty of the Adriatic coast.

There’s a difference between riding a bike and riding a road bike.

Road cycling was never meant to be comfortable all the time.
It asks for rhythm.
Commitment.
The willingness to keep moving when the road turns rough, steep or endless.

And somewhere along the way, that effort becomes part of the beauty.

The speed.
The silence after the rain.
The feeling of a group carrying momentum through the mountains together.

Not escaping the landscape.
Becoming part of it.

In one month, we will welcome riders to the 6th edition of LA REINE Gstaad.

Behind every edition stands a community of more than 100 people who give their time, energy and talent to create something special.

Volunteers, photographers, mechanics, guides, hotel teams, drivers, partners, suppliers and friends — many of them have been part of this journey since the very beginning.

Over the coming weeks, we will slowly introduce LA REINE Istria — day by day, ride by ride.

A new gravel retreat on the Croatian coast, shaped around long days on the bike, shared tables, quiet roads and the landscapes of Istria.

Day 2 · Into the Hinterland — Back to the Sea

The first longer climbs begin to shape the rhythm of the week.

We leave the coast behind and ride into the inland of Istria — through vineyards, olive groves and small villages that seem to settle quietly into the landscape.

The roads flow gently through the hills before opening again towards the sea.

A long lunch together in Kaštelir.
Warm late summer light.
And eventually, the return to Poreč along the Adriatic.

Climbing is not just part of LA REINE Gstaad.
It is the reason for it.

Long alpine passes.
The rhythm of breathing and movement.
Hours spent gaining elevation together on some of the most beautiful mountain roads in Europe.

There is something deeply satisfying about a day built around climbing — the focus it demands, the simplicity of it, the feeling that slowly settles in once the road begins to rise.

And perhaps that is also why so many women keep returning to Gstaad every June.

Not because it is easy.
But because it is beautiful precisely in the effort.

The weekend unfolds around climbing from the very beginning — including the new LA REINE Prologue: a pure uphill effort through Gstaad, with gradients reaching up to 18%.

And then come the big alpine days:
130 km and 3000 metres of elevation on the long route, while even the shorter route remains a true mountain challenge at 90 km and 1800 metres.

Beautifully demanding.
Just as it should be.

Only a few weeks left until LA REINE Gstaad.

With Gstaad quickly filling up for the weekend, we secured a limited number of athlete rooms for participants still planning their trip.

Simple, quiet private rooms with private bathroom — focused on what the weekend is really about: riding, recovery and sharing the experience together.

Less than 50 entries remain.

The athlete stay can now be added directly during registration.

Long days on the bike, the sea never far away.

LA REINE Istria is a gravel retreat shaped by movement, rhythm and the quiet beauty of riding together.

Six curated gravel rides through the landscapes of Istria — from the coast to the inland hills, along the Parenzana, through small villages, forests and vineyards. Days that unfold slowly, carried by the group and the simplicity of life on the bike.

There will be olive oil tastings beneath old trees, truffles near Motovun, wine at long tables after long rides, mornings by the sea and evenings that stretch late into conversation.

Not a race.
Not a training camp.
But a week on gravel, designed with care — for women who love riding, beautiful places and the feeling of being fully immersed in both.
