🌍 International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict

When conflict strikes, nature becomes a silent casualty – ecosystems are destroyed, resources exploited, and communities displaced. The UN reminds us that peace cannot endure if the environment that sustains people and communities is left in ruin.

FAWCO stands with the UN in recognizing that women, peace, and the planet are deeply connected.
Empowering women to protect and manage natural resources is key to building a sustainable, peaceful future for all. 🌿

Protecting the planet means protecting peace — for everyone, everywhere. 🌿

Honoring United Nations Day today, October 24.

“For 80 years, we have worked to forge peace, tackle poverty and hunger, advance human rights, and build a more sustainable world – together.”

On Friday's UN Day, Secretary-General António Guterres urged people to unite and fulfil the extraordinary promise of the United Nations.

“Now, more than ever, the world must recommit to solving problems no nation can solve alone.”

NGO CSW Geneva celebrates the International Day of the Girl Child.

Around the world, girls are breaking stereotypes and overcoming barriers that have long held them back —from being denied an education to facing early or forced marriage to experiencing gender-based violence. Despite these challenges, they continue striving to realize their full potential and pursue their dreams.

On Saturday's Day of the Girl and every day, join UN Women in standing with girls as they take charge of their futures.

The UN’s liquidity crisis is not just a financial issue but a looming humanitarian crisis. It undermines the Human Rights Council’s ability to protect vulnerable groups, including women, girls, and marginalized communities.

With a sense of urgency and deep concern, NGO CSW Geneva's member organizations submitted a statement to the 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council on the alarming impact that funding cuts will have on women and girls. You can read the published statement here:

A post from our member organization FAWCO honoring World Teachers' Day.

The theme of this year's World Teachers’ Day is “Recasting teaching as a collaborative profession.” Around the world, teachers need to be “supported by policies, practices, and environments that value mutual support, shared expertise, and joint responsibility“ (UNESCO) to allow them to work within strong structures, build networks, strengthen learning and ensure their personal fulfillment.

NGO CSW Geneva recently wrote to UN Secretary General António Guterres about the importance of preserving UN Women as a separate UN entity. In particular, the letter calls on the Secretary General to:
- Maintain UN Women as an autonomous body within the United Nations system.
- Strengthen its mandate and increase its resources.
- Reaffirm its central role in advancing the rights, participation, and empowerment of all women and girls globally.
