The NGO Committee on the Status of Women, Geneva (NGO CSW Geneva) acts as a strategic platform for UN accredited Non-Governmental Organizations (NGO’s) with consultative status with ECOSOC. It focuses on the advancement of human rights, promoting gender equality, the empowerment of women, and the defense of the rights of women and girls across the globe. It facilitates the activities of its member organizations, in support of the United Nations and with Member States and cooperates with its sister committees in New York and Vienna. The NGO CSW Geneva supports the work of the Human Rights Council, CEDAW, UN Women, and the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. In particular, the NGO CSW Geneva supports implementation of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, UN Security Resolution 1325, the Convention to Eliminate All Forms of Discrimination Against Women and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development) in particular SDG #5 on gender equality and women’s empowerment.
