The Future of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapy is Multilingual. 🇨🇭

On October 8th, join the ALPS Pre-Conference Workshop Series for a high-level clinical intensive. For a whole afternoon, we are bringing together Switzerland’s pioneers to bridge the “Röstigraben” through science, offering four parallel tracks in German, French, Italian, and English.

Theory Meets Practice:
• Scientific Rigor: Explore diverse clinical techniques in PAT.
• Expert Faculty: Learn from senior clinicians at SÄPT, ASPT, SSMP and the Alaya Foundation.
• Limited Capacity: Small-group settings (12–18 participants) for deep-dive experiential training.

We’re excited to welcome Klemens Egger to this year’s ALPS Summer School!

Klemens is a neuroscientist and postdoctoral researcher at the University Hospital of Psychiatry Zurich, whose work explores how psychedelic compounds shape brain function, perception, and socio-emotional processes.

With a background in chemistry and neuroscience, his research combines pharmacology with advanced neuroimaging techniques to better understand the mechanisms behind substances like DMT — from brain dynamics to experiences such as empathy and compassion.

🚨 We’re excited to welcome Martha Havenith to this year’s ALPS Summer School!

Martha brings a fascinating perspective at the crossroads of neuroscience, virtual reality, and breathwork. As a research group leader at the Max Planck Institute, her work explores how the brain navigates complex cognitive processes and how altered states, including those induced by breathwork, can shape our inner experience.

🌬️ Beyond the lab, she has over a decade of experience as a breathwork facilitator and is leading pioneering research on its neuronal and clinical effects, including trauma processing.

💫 Her work embodies one of the core intentions of the Summer School: bridging rigorous science with lived, embodied experience.

We’re excited to welcome Helena Aicher to this year’s ALPS Summer School.

Helena brings a rare and valuable perspective, working at the intersection of clinical research, psychotherapy, and therapist training. Her work spans psychedelic clinical trials at the Universities of Zurich and Basel, as well as real-world therapeutic practice within Switzerland’s framework for limited medical use.

At the Summer School, participants will have the opportunity to learn from her experience in both the science and the practical implementation of psychedelic-assisted therapies — an essential bridge for the future of the field.

This is exactly what the ALPS Summer School is about: learning from experts who are actively shaping research and practice today.

And what a better day to announce the first ticket release for our annual Psychedelic Research Conference? 🫨

83 years ago, on April 19, in Basel, Swiss chemist Albert Hofmann rode home from the lab during WWII after ingesting L*D for the first time intentionally.

Today, the date is remembered as a symbol of curiosity, scientific discovery, and the ongoing exploration of consciousness.
