With the next edition in 2027, Verzasca Foto Festival becomes biennial and seeks to strengthen its position as a space for exchange between art and territory, where photography serves as a tool for observation, connection, and cultural impulse.
�In this context, this free open call is launched, expanding the festival’s scope and aiming to identify practices, from emerging to established, and diverse perspectives. ��For the next edition, we are looking for photographic projects developed over time, rooted in a direct relationship with peripheral, rural, and marginal places, regardless of the background of those who create them.��apply now: link in bio

Con la prossima edizione nel 2027, Verzasca Foto Festival diventa biennale e desidera rafforzare la propria posizione come spazio di incontro tra arte e territorio, dove la fotografia è strumento di osservazione, relazione e impulso culturale.
�In questo contesto nasce questa open call gratuita, che amplia il campo del festival e mira a individuare pratiche, dalle emergenti alle consolidate, e sguardi diversi. ��Per la prossima edizione cerchiamo progetti fotografici sviluppati nel tempo, a partire da un rapporto diretto con luoghi periferici, rurali e marginali, indipendentemente dalla provenienza di chi li realizza.

Hypersea   “Hypersea” is a speculative investigation into the fluid boundaries between human, animal and environment, where the disabled body becomes a site of transformation, interde- pendence and posthuman imagination. Commissioned by the Italian Cultural Institute, in Stockholm.  “Hypersea” è un’indagine speculativa sui confini fluidi tra umano, animale e ambiente, in cui il corpo disabile diventa luogo di trasformazione, interdipendenza e immaginazione postumana. Commissionato dall’Istituto italiano di cultura di Stoccolma.

Drown in my Magic / Mare Monstrum The series shows Black merpeople thriving in bodies of water, referencing historic and present passages such as the Transatlantic Slave Trade and migration across the Mediterranean Sea.

La serie mostra persone marine Nere che prosperano nei corpi d’acqua, facendo riferimento a vie di passaggio storiche e attuali come la Tratta Transatlantica degli Schiavi e la migrazione attraverso il Mar Mediterraneo.

 In “Élégies,” documents vanishing glaciers through altered photographic processes, merging artistic approach with ecological reflection on human-environment relations.   In “Élégies,” Matthieu Gafsou documenta i ghiacciai in via di scomparsa attraverso processi fotografici alterati, fondendo approccio artistico e riflessione ecologica sulla relazione tra essere umano e ambiente.

Algues maudites  Through a speculative documentary, .pallot work draws on scientific research to explore the human impact on the environment. “Algues maudites” focuses on toxic algae proliferating along the Breton coastline.   Attraverso un documentario speculativo, il lavoro di Alice Pallot esplora l’impatto umano sull’ambiente basandosi su ricerche scientifiche. “Algues maudites” si concentra sulle alghe tossiche che proliferano lungo la costa bretone.

Mother of Water The Mekong River is under threat: dams, climate change, and illegal sand mining are en- dangering Southeast Asia’s vital waterway, its ecosystems, and millions of livelihoods. “Mother of Water” situates itself on the Mekong banks and its waterways.   
Il fiume Mekong è minacciato: dighe, cambiamenti climatici ed estrazione illegale di sabbia mettono in pericolo questa via d’acqua vitale del Sud-est asiatico, i suoi ecosistemi e milioni di mezzi di sussistenza. “Mother of Water” si situa sulle sponde e vie d’acqua del Mekong.

Lapilli (A cura di Simone Azzoni e gli studenti dell’accademia di Belle Arti Santa Giulia)   “Lapilli” è un’indagine polimaterica e plurilinguisitica sugli elementi: acqua, terra, fuoco. Religione e mito, leggenda e racconto costruiscono la relazione che l’uomo ha con il sublime dinamico: spavento e meraviglia.  “Lapilli” is a polymaterial and multilingual investigation into the elements: water, earth, fire. Religion and myth, legend and narrative build the relationship that humans have with the dynamic sublime: fear and wonder.
