Since 1990, the association Kunstraum Aarau has been entertaining a showroom with the purpose of enabling events of the visual arts and their limits. The emphasis is no longer put on the untouchable artwork in the classical sense, but the transdisciplinary examination of art as a programmatic process of research. By breaking open conventional spaces and unlocking new ones, borders are fathomed and

researched by means of unestablished perceptions. This process constitutes the main purpose of the program. Sound art has been a special focus since 2004. Alongside 5-7 exhibitions, 4-6 concerts under the sublabel “musikzimmer” take place in the “Kunstraum”, which are dedicated to experimental electronic music.
