GLOBAL BITES: A Celebration of Culinary Diversity ✨🌍

At this year’s NWT Culinary Festival, Global Bites brought Yellowknife’s diverse food community together for an unforgettable al fresco communal dinner. Guests gathered around the table to taste their way around the world while celebrating the incredible restaurants and chefs that make our community so diverse.

🇮🇳 Pani Puri — Asian Grocery YK
Crisp semolina shells, chickpeas & spiced mint water.
🇯🇵 Aburi Salmon Nigiri — Sushi Café
Flame-seared salmon, sushi rice, sweet soy glaze, scallions & fish roe.
🌍 Golden Fried Plantain — My African Cuisine
A classic African street food favourite with caramelized, golden plantains.
🇨🇳 Zhejiangmian Noodles — Kingpin Bowling Centre
Hand-cut wheat noodles, fermented soybean sauce & ground pork.
🇵🇭🇲🇽 Chicken Adobo Mini Taco — Lolo Demet’s
Filipino-Mexican fusion with tender chicken adobo, crispy garlic fried rice & fresh garnish.
🇲🇽 Sope de Birria Tart — Copperhouse / Casa de Cobre
Slow-braised beef birria, refried beans, cotija, sour cream & crisp corn tart.
🇿🇦🇳🇬 Boerwors & Jollof Rice — The Hidden Gem
House-crafted sausage served with fragrant, spiced jollof rice.
🇧🇷 Brigadeiro — Soso Sweet
Brazil’s iconic chocolate confection made with condensed milk, cocoa & butter, hand-rolled and coated in chocolate sprinkles—the perfect sweet ending to the evening. 🍫
From India to Japan, Africa, China, the Philippines, Mexico, Brazil, and beyond, every plate brought a different story and flavour to the table.
Global Bites was more than dinner—it was a celebration of the cultures, people, and culinary traditions that make Yellowknife such a vibrant Northern community. 🌎❤️
