The annual KINE-BUSI hockey game began in 2003. The game was created as a community initiative in Professor Anne Dodge’s Senior Seminar course. The 2003 Senior Seminar class, consisting of 11 students, worked to create the game as a way to benefit the community. The integral students involved in the planning were Jenn Clarke, Geoff Yates, Dave Konzie, and Ryan Marrast. The students managed to raise $1200 to provide a Christmas for a local family of 9.
In 2004, a new group from Professor Dodge’s Senior Seminar class created the second KINE-BUSI hockey game. The group purchased a trophy and decided to name the game “The Dodge Cup,” in honour of Professor Dodge. The game has become an annual tradition and has raised money for many local organizations.
The game had to be cancelled in 2020, due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, one of the original creators of the game, Geoff Yates, fundraised $1800 for the Wolfville Area Food-bank.
This year, in 2021, the game returns. All proceeds will be donated to the Wolfville Area Food-bank. We are excited to host the faculty and students of Acadia’s Kinesiology and Business programs for this special event.
