Hello everyone,

I would like to start by giving a dedication to the mother of one of our organizers Geraldine Logan - September 13, 1956 to February 21, 2015

Crystal has had this dream for a while now because of the fond memories she had of watching Horror movies with her late mother.

All of this was possible because she showed a young Crystal the joy of Horror and we are proud to have done this in her honour.

We would like to take this time to thank everyone for the amazing outcome that was Winnipeg Horror Con.

Firstly to the sponsors who supported our idea and helped us make it happen. We appreciate the belief you had in us and that this show would be successful!

To our vendors, who worked a long day representing their businesses and bringing some amazing items to sell.

To the volunteers who worked tirelessly both Friday and Saturday to make sure all the vendors, celebrity guests, guests and organizers were supported in anyway that was needed.

A special volunteer shout out goes to Joanne, Devon, An, Patty, Kevin, Matt, Dillon and Shane who were our right hands that night and were able to handle things before we even knew they were an issue.

To our celebrity guests who were so kind and amazing to their fans. We heard so many great comments about getting the opportunity to meet you.

And last but not least thank you, to you, our community. To every single one of you that followed along on this page to coming to the convention. It was an honour to see such an amazing turn out and we are so happy we got to bring the dream of ours to a reality.

We look forward to seeing you again in 2027!

I want to start off by saying thank you to all the vendors, volunteers and customers who came and supported our first year Hosting Winnipeg Horror Con. We had 3700 people come through the door and we are very happy with the turnout.

We would like to address all the posts and rumors going around about Horror Con and try to clear up as much as we can. First off Greame from Primos Toys was removed as a Sponsor as well as a vendor. Unfortunately he came to the show to get the exact reaction he did. By showing up and posting what he did as well as the profile picture he knew it would put Horror Con under fire just like it did. This was done not only to try and prove some sort of point he can do whatever he wants, It was a shot at Horror Con because we removed him as a sponsor and vendor.

As for Chris, He was removed as an organizer and from all planning of the event. Chris was there because Chris owns the haunted mazes and as they were one of our bigger amenities as well as one of the things at Horror Con the children could really enjoy. We did not want to cancel the Maze and there was not enough time for us to get another one. We asked Chris to be there to run the mazes. He was going to be outside the whole time with the mazes alone. However that changed when 15 of our morning shift volunteers showed up and immediately walked out because they had only signed up to volunteer to try and mess up the show when their spaces would no longer be filled. As Chris was previously an organizer and had knowledge of items that were required to be done, Chris stepped in to help vendors unload, find their tables, even set up their booths. Anywhere we were short he helped out. One thing I find unusual and concerning is one of the vendors posting about how bad it was there was one of the ones that went to him for help when they needed it. I will not be naming names because that is not my point of this post.

Chris stepped in solely to assist with keeping the convention running smoothly and to help ensure that vendors, celebrities, and guests continued to have a positive experience. His involvement was intended to support the convention during an unexpected staffing shortage and was undertaken for the benefit of everyone attending and participating in the event

We all knew the kind of backlash we would get for Chris helping however we put the show and all the vendors that were there first and did what we all could to make the whole event run smoothly not only for the vendor but all the customers who bought tickets. As Organizers I feel this should always be our first priority.

That brings me to all the name calling and bullying we all have been facing as organizers. I personally have been called everything from a white supremacist , Bigot, and have had death threats messaged to me. A co-organizer was attacked at work one night where she was approached by someone dressed all in black and their face covered, walked right up to her was called a f****** bigot and had liquid thrown in her face and all over her. Luckily it turned out to just be coke but can you imagine how scary that would be. I have had vendors reach out and tell me they wanted to do Horror Con but were afraid to because if they did they would not be accepted into other alternative markets. There were vendors who were getting these messages while at Horror Con. We had one vendor leave in tears because of a message she had received about being part of Horror Con and if she didn't leave she would regret it. Yet we are being accused of being bullies or creating an unsafe space. How exactly are we doing that?

Not once have we done any of these things to anyone, nor would we. The point of bringing back Horror Con was to have an event where everyone who loves the genre could come and enjoy it. Not to replace any other events or markets, I believe there is room for everyone.

I am sorry for the long post but I feel like this all needed to be said. Now I am aware as this was our first time hosting Horror Con there are things we can approve and make better for next year and that is exactly what we plan to do. So again a big thank you to everyone who supported us by being a vendor, a volunteer or a customer we appreciate you and look forward to having you all back next year for a bigger and better Winnipeg Horror Con.
