Here is my manuscript practice done alongside my classes with Kalo Chu , and MUCH gratitude to her, and my classmates. Also, I must acknowledge my survival of May-hem month in my world. It takes me by surprise every year - you’d think I’d have learned to manage the chaos this month brings this many times in. 🤷🏻‍♀️. I was able to take some space after all, and boy am I proud of how I handled it. Proud of how I was still able to connect with my friends, colleagues, and family despite it all. These wins are necessary and meaningful through recovery from depression. Every tiny step forward matters. Accepting that the inevitable steps backward do not mean failure, but a reminder that the work to recover continues each and every day. That gratitude for what I CAN do is the secret sauce to being my own biggest fan.
Anyway. Welcome, June. You are appreciated too.

Asian and Pacific Islander Heritage Month was kicked off by Manitoba Hydro, for a live onsite wellness workshop. Both in person AND online, staff were able to join in from all@over the province and country! With a packed room, I shared some of my Japanese culture through origami projects, and some laughs.
Tomorrow (friday May 15th), find me in the beautiful atrium of Manitoba Hydro’s downtown headquarters for the Asian heritage month marketplace. I will be selling some of my Manitoba Collection art & prints, even a few products related to my sustainability side of the business.
See you tomorrow between 10-2pm at 360 Portage Avenue, inside the main doors!
PS: there will also be traditional dancers, music and a fashion show.
I would love to see you, come say hello, and take a look inside the breathtaking building!

Somewhere between now and always, lies the place we go. To be what? Will it hurt? Will I feel? See? Remember my loved ones?
An ode to my Japanese ancestors, where my aunt and uncle can be reunited once again. Are you and dad playing basketball together again? Is grandma making you chagayu?
Uncle Ken I will miss your kindness and love and steadfast presence. How you showed me so much of my heritage. I am grateful for you. Oh so grateful.
