Join Christine Lintott Architects Inc.for Park It + Plant It: a biophilic design charrette, where creativity meets nature.

This interactive, hands-on event invites participants to reimagine how our public infrastructure can foster connections within the community and to the natural world.

Focusing on the Johnson Street Parkade, this charrette asks community members what future you envision for this site.

Did you know the parkade is built within a ravine where a creek once flowed?

Participants will brainstorm, sketch, and share ideas, considering ways this site can support public and ecological well-being, while honouring the site’s complex history.

No prior design experience is needed – bring your curiosity and a willingness to think outside the box!

Park It + Plant It: a biophilic design charrette offers a unique opportunity to co-create solutions for a future where people and nature thrive together.

Patkau Architects is known for creating innovative, sculptural buildings that convey artistic expression through the purposeful use of materials.

John Patkau will give a talk based on his popular book of the same title, Material Operations, including reference to furniture, sculpture, and research pavilions.

Working directly with materials—bending them, breaking them, feeling their texture, mass, and strength—provides a depth of understanding that visual observation alone cannot. The firm's creations demonstrate how attending to and playing with specific materials yields a refreshed and expanded perspective on the possible.

The talk will coincide with the debut of a new range of sculptural, cotton polymer-coated lighting by Patkau Architects with a feature display at the Gabriel Ross Showroom.

📅 Event listing and the festival schedule will be published mid-March.
