By IMPACT tradition, we close out our conference with 'Unite. Commit. Act.' and make a personal vow towards an action that we are committing to moving forward.

We were blown away with the commitments made by our 2026 delegates. It's refreshing and moving to see the enthusiasm and motivation to collaborate, take action, and move the needle forward on shaping regenerative, responsible tourism - and in so many different areas of industry.

Here are just some of our 2026 commitments. Have you been true to yours?

There are few Canadian travel and tourism delegates that haven't been moved by Walt Judas' career in some form.

Having spent over three decades in this industry, Walt retired from the Industry of British Columbia having built a sagacious legacy. He still speaks on tourism with the enthusiasm of someone who has never lost sight of what drew him to it.

"[My wife] says to me all the time, 'you've had an epic career. And she jokingly calls it 'Walt's Epic Life' [...], partly because of the roles I occupied, the type of work I was doing, and the people I interacted with."

Read "Walt's Epic Life" - our sit-down with Walt in our latest edition of the IMPACT Magazine, where we discuss the biggest shifts in the last three decades, commodifying tourism, and what sustainability means to him. https://hubs.li/Q04tdC8P0 🔗

Tourism is built on familiar language: destinations, experiences, hidden gems, visitors, growth. 📖

These words appear frequently in our strategies, marketing campaigns, and industry conversations, shaping the way we talk about travel in our day-to-day. However, we rarely stop to consider what they imply about our relationship to the places we visit, or to the people who call those places home.

Izabela Jaroszynski's exploration piece "The Words We Travel By" is featured in our latest edition of the IMPACT Magazine, interviewing Michelle Holliday and JoAnna Haugen to note ways in which the language of regenerative travel steers relationships and communities. If you're a travel and tourism policymaker, marketer, journalist, or simply fascinated by the subtle signals conveyed by words, read Izabela's article at https://magazine.impactnational.ca/volume-2/index.html. 🔗
