Mexico City is everywhere lately. Mexico City during art week even more.

And for good reason.

For one week, the city becomes a convergence point —
fairs, openings, dinners, conversations unfolding all at once.

But within that intensity, it’s easy to feel lost.

This February, Curated Tastes in partnership with Finisterra approached the city differently.

Not by trying to see everything,
but by carefully selecting what was worth experiencing —
and how.

A slower way of moving through a fast week.
With context, guidance, and intention at every step.

Here is a small recap in images of a an unforgettable experience.

Join us for an intimate artist talk and walkthrough of Warmest Regards, featuring artists Alejandra Morales, Samira Sukhatme, and Angie Quintanilla Coates, in conversation with curator and art historian Miret Rodriguez (Curated Tastes).

This exhibition brings together three immigrant artists whose practices converge through colour, form, and a deep exploration of place.

Alejandra Morales creates fantastical, ironic worlds of birds, flowers, and ornamentation to examine the restrictive ideals of femininity and sexuality rooted in her conservative hometown of Monterrey. Samira Sukhatme draws inspiration from the dialogue between architecture and nature, using texture and light to explore balance, perception, and memory within space. Angie Quintanilla Coates channels her Mexican heritage and personal journey into vibrant geometric reliefs, embracing positive space as a site of optimism, complexity, and resilience.

Though distinct in medium, their works share a sensibility rooted in heritage. Coming from Mexico and India—cultures alive with colour and warmth—each artist carries these influences into their practice, in their own distinct way. Presented in November, a season often marked by cold and darkness, Warmest Regards invites visitors to step inside, be enveloped by colour, and bask in a brightness that transcends place and season.

This free event is an opportunity to hear directly from the artists, reflect on shared themes of belonging, warmth, and cultural identity, and experience the exhibition through their eyes.

We’ve had such a warm and inspiring Fall thanks to all of you — our community of art lovers, artists, and partners who make every event so special! 🍂

October brought colour, connection, and creativity to Vancouver as we celebrated Latin American Heritage Month in partnership with VLACC, The Eastside Arts Society, and Emily Carr University.

On October 15, we premiered Vessels by Yaimel Lopez and Alexandre Klinke at the Reliance Theatre (ECUAD). And on October 25, our Studio Hop featured the vibrant works of Angie Jaimes, Camila Pabón, and Pilar Mehlis — with a warm welcome from Samira Sukhatme, who graciously hosted our reception.

That evening also offered a glimpse of something beautiful on the horizon…

❤️‍🔥Warmest Regards, a November exhibition featuring Angie Quintanilla Coates, Alejandra Morales, and Samira Sukhatme (Nov 21-30 at THIS gallery).

🤩 Mark your calendars for November 29 — join us for a Curated Tastes Walkthrough with the artists.

Here’s to a season filled with warmth, collaboration, and art that connects us all. 🧡

Part 3/3 of our Granville Island art hop! 🎨✨

A heartfelt thank you to Wil Aballe for guiding us through Thea Canlas’ thought-provoking first solo exhibition and Hank Bull’s captivating showcase. Wil’s insightful commentary truly enhanced our understanding of both exhibitions. 🫶🏼

Wil Aballe has long been known for presenting innovative exhibitions that connect local and international artists. The gallery’s bright, open space fosters an inspiring environment for contemporary art, showcasing works that span multiple media, from sculpture to video and painting. It’s the perfect space for these exciting and diverse exhibitions!

🤩 We’re also thrilled to announce that our next art hop on April 5th will feature two new exhibitions at Wil Aballe. Dion Smith-Dokkie, a recent finalist for the Lind Biennale Prize, will present his latest work, alongside Alex Gibson’s featured exhibition part of the Capture Photography Festival. Dion’s work was recently on view at the Polygon Gallery and is currently showing at Sum gallery until April 4th. Both Alex and Dion bring fresh perspectives to the medium of photography.

A warm thank you to Ian Heffernan for capturing these special moments. 📸

Part 2/3 of our Granville Island art tour! 🎨✨

A big thank you to Ghislain Brown-Kossi for welcoming us into his studio and sharing his remarkable art with us.

Ghislain’s work is a bright blend of ancient symbols and contemporary design, exploring powerful themes of identity, culture, and memory. Born in Lyon, France, and now based in Vancouver, his ‘archaeological pop’ art creates a fascinating dialogue between the past and present. 🏛️🔬

We were all captivated by the diversity in his work—drawings, mixed media works, sculptures, and installations. Ghislain’s use of traditional African textiles combined with geometry and color in his work was truly inspiring. Learning about his techniques and processes left everyone with a deeper appreciation for the complexity of his practice. The audience was completely engaged and walked away with a new understanding for his artistic journey. 🌟

We’re also grateful to for beautifully capturing these moments through his photography. 📸

🤩 Don’t miss our next art hop on April 5th! It’s going to be another amazing journey through Granville Island’s creative spaces! We’ll be visiting different artists and exhibitions ☺️

Part 1/3 of our Granville Island art tour! 🎨✨

A huge thank you to Paul Laroque, President & CEO of Arts Umbrella, for providing such an inspiring overview of the transformative work they’re doing. Arts Umbrella offers arts education for young people, fostering creativity, confidence, and community in disciplines like art, dance, theatre, music, and film. Their programs truly make a difference in shaping the next generation of artists. 🐣🪄

We were also lucky to explore an incredible exhibition curated by Andre Seow, Visual Arts Instructor at Arts Umbrella, showcasing the work of young students. This exhibition serves as a fascinating conversation between the students’ interpretations and the themes explored in the Firelei Báez exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery. The students brought their own voices, reactions, and unique perspectives, creating a compelling dialogue with Báez’s work on identity, culture, and history. 🎨🔥

Grateful to Ian Heffernan for beautifully capturing these moments with his signature photography style. 📸 His shots really bring the experience to life!

And don’t forget—our next art hop is coming up on April 5th! You won’t want to miss the amazing artists and exhibitions we’ll explore next!
