As we welcome 2026, our season will look a little different. But, that doesn't mean we're just sitting around: we're already working hard to set the foundation for a strong season- then an even greater return in 2027. Just like you and your teams, this break is helping us set the stage for what comes next.

In the meantime, we issue you an open invitation: come paddle with us in 2026, and be connected with our community more than ever this year.
👟 Join us on May 30 at the Vessi 500 Championship; or if your season extends to the Fall,
🦄 Race at the Oddball Workshop Fall Classic on September 26. These two events are among the largest on the continent with 120+ entries per event- and we have even more events around BC.
☀️ And, join us at a special one-time event on August 22 hosted with the support of Concord Pacific - Canada- timed for teams heading to CCWC 2026 to have one last race in North America before facing off against the world.

If you're visiting us from further away, we've worked with hotel partners to offer exceptional discounts on rates at these three events, and will be announcing more races and hotel offers soon.

🎄The cheers fade, the nights get colder, but the same lights and magic that live on in our memories come back out at Christmas. The best gift of all though, is the gift of community that all of us came together to create. We wish you all cheer and warmth this Christmas season- the same cheer and warmth you've filled our community with all these years. 🎄

While we won't be seeing you at the Festival in 2026, our Dragon Boat BC race calendar's packed with ways for you to rediscover our community this coming year. And, before you know it, we'll be back together in 2027, welcoming summer on the shores of False Creek.

A summer like no other: as Vancouver gets set to host the world next year for the FIFA World Cup 26™, we'll be taking a break. But, we've set the stage for our grand return already: see you from June 25-27, 2027!

As part of larger changes to the Dragon Boat BC 2026 Race Calendar, the FreshCo Richmond Dragon Boat Festival will shift to September rather than its usual August date, to accommodate a new summer regatta (name announcement February 2026) on August 22 — a one-time festival supported by Concord Pacific - Canada and TD in False Creek. These changes were only possible with the support of our partners especially the leadership of the Government of British Columbia, alongside staff in event host cities and paddling community stakeholders.

“In 2026, there is an unparalleled opportunity to welcome people from around the world to B.C., and we are pleased to support Dragon Boat BC and collaborate to ensure these important events can still happen,” said Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “Events like these exemplify the culture and spirit of British Columbia, and we are proud to support the organizers who make our communities vibrant and bring people together.”

This is who we are. This is the community we build.

Thank you, to the hundreds of thousands of people that came together to make our 2025 Festival happen. We have large updates coming up, but we won't be just resting. During our rest period in 2026 due to Vancouver hosting the world in our backyard, we'll be working on bigger and better things. And when you come back to False Creek in 2027, we'll be ready to welcome you back. In the meantime, don't miss any of Dragon Boat BC's other great events around BC- including special new additions for 2026, shifts to other events, and exciting news coming your way very soon.
