: Nov 5-15, 2026 VAFF is the longest running Asian film festival in Canada.

It was founded in 1995 and debuted in September 1997. Since then, tens of thousands of film lovers have experienced a diverse selection of North American-Asian and international films. Each year VAFF attracts close to 5,000 audience members over its four-day festival and year round events. It also reaches many more through word of mouth, pre-festival events, and traditional and social media throug

hout the year. VAFF is entirely organized and produced by a group of dedicated volunteers, and is made possible by generous financial support from corporate sponsors, public funders and private donors.

Racial Equity Screen Office's (RESO) new program: Canada-Asia Pacific Co-Production Mentorship Lab (CAPCOM), funded with the support of Canada Media Fund (CMF), Creative BC, and the Government of Canada CanExport.

CAPCOM is a six-month virtual program that supports mid-career racialized Canadian producers seeking to develop international co-production opportunities for their scripted television or streaming projects. Four (4) participants will be selected to gain hands-on experience and expand their professional reach into the Asia-Pacific market.

The deadline for the program is June 1, 5:00pm PT.

Continuing our 30-week countdown to -- Did you know we launched the Mighty Asian Moviemaking Marathon (MAMM) in 2005? That was an exciting new project to celebrate short films and filmmakers. It was also the year where we began to notice an increase in Asian-Canadian and Asian-American filmmakers submitting their longer form features.
