Founded in 1930, the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra (VYSO) is British Columbia’s premier orchestral training program for young musicians aged 8 to 22. Curated as part of a collection inspired by the Year of the Horse, this piece reflects movement, transformation, and the quiet energy of transition.

A luminous silk painting blending ancient imagery with contemporary sensibility—layered, atmospheric, and quietly surreal.

“Spring Grove with Two Horses” by Su Jiangang is a delicate and evocative silk painting that bridges centuries of artistic tradition.

Rendered in ink and natural mineral pigments, the work depicts two Tang-dynasty riders moving through a spring forest. Intricate, interwoven brushwork creates a subtle displacement between figures and landscape, allowing bodies and branches to dissolve into one another across layers of time and space.

The result is a dreamlike composition—where ancient travelers and contemporary perception coexist, as though passing briefly through the forest before fading again into memory.
