One of BC’s most vibrant dance events
Delta Cup is a high quality ballroom dance competition held in Delta BC, a quick 30 minute drive south of Vancouver, Canada. The 2018 event takes place October 6-7 featuring a full range of Pro/Am events in all age groups in American and International Style, Formation Team competition and Amateur events in all skill levels covering Juvenile, Junior, Youth, Adult, Senior 1 through 4 age categories. We also offer plenty of social dancing opportunities and fun events such as Jack and Jill mixers.
One of the things that sets Delta Cup apart from others is the annual professional showcase featuring one of the world’s top couples. This year we are pleased to have Lukáš Spišák and Eva Tibenska, ranked 6th in the world in Professional 10-dance in 2016. They will perform a mix of Latin, Smooth and Ballroom showcase dances spread out over two evening sessions.
New for 2018 is the inclusion of NDCC BC Closed Championships in Junior, Youth and Senior age categories. The Adult Closed Championships were held at Sunday Funday in June. Delta Cup will host the other age categories. We’ll also feature the NDCC BC Closed Pro/Am Championships, recognizing the top BC competitors in Latin, Ballroom, Smooth and Rhythm. We have nearly 30 perpetual trophies and a high-quality judging panel. A cafe and bar are also on premises.
Delta Cup takes place at KinVillage Community Centre, a well-known community activity center located a half hour drive south of Vancouver. It’s conveniently located for Seattle competitors and those traveling from Vancouver Island. One of BC’s largest malls, Tsawwassen Mills, is just five minutes away. Organizers George and Wendy Pytlik work hard to make the event enjoyable for competitors and audience alike. One of the things that they feel passionate about is having an audience for the morning Pro/Am events, so they make a great effort to bring in a vibrant audience to provide lively interaction for Pro/Am. In 2017 the event featured Canada’s largest formation team competition, with 13 teams competing for the trophy, which was won by a team from Seattle’s Pacific Ballroom Dance.
