Very pleased with young Archie who really tried his best and Kas who always provides the anchor in all conditions. You can’t tell from the stills how hard it was raining. At times visibility was virtually nil and the carriage wheels were creating a wake. Hopefully marathon day will bring better whether. Still the organizers have outdone themselves yet again. It is always a pleasure to be here.

Dressage is done. It was raining so hard it was almost impossible to see where I was going at times. The boys did their very best in the heavy, rutty footing and blinding rain.

From an absolutely stunning day when we first arrived, to continuous deluge of heavy, heavy rain. We went out to walk obstacles in between the jog and my dressage test, which is coming up soon, but gave up because it was raining too hard. Fingers crossed our test won’t be too soggy

Made it to Bromont despite a number of unexpected challenges. Thank goodness for the driving community. Megan Sorenson is the hero of the day for bringing our passports that we left behind and getting them here 10 minutes after we arrived! Thank you to Teresa Finnerty for driving the horses. Such a beautiful venue I hope the forecasted rain for every day doesn’t actually materialize. Thank you also to Teresa’s son for fixing the wiring in the RV so that we could haul the trailer full of all the carriages.

We have some lovely young ponies that are ready for their next chapter. All have sought after German (Weser Ems) bloodlines. They are handled from birth in a sensible, systematic and confidence building way.

Paris (the pale palomino) was introduced to the tire today for the first time. Calloway learned to trot with it for the first time. Both are scary first outings but because we spend so much time with in hand work our two year olds trust us to try something new with confidence. Each tire episode lasts less than five minutes. Both two year olds will progress to a light two-wheeled cart over the next few weeks and then be turned out to grow until next season.

We are really enjoying our guests from the Seattle area of the United States. Aged 83 and 90, they decided they wanted and intensive carriage driving experience. Mary is a lifelong equestrian who recently sold her beloved dressage horse and took up driving. Unfortunately just before she came she broke her collar bone. Not one to give up (like most horse people) she is learning to drive one handed! An inspiration to all of us.
