“We biked every day, so I found myself, on a personal point, increasingly happy,” Brooks said, laughing, in an interview last week. “I was a very happy person by the end of that trip.”

So Brooks came home and bought his first bicycle, a Danish-style city bike. BlackMedDoBike.ca’s interest is in growing and supporting a community of men of color who share a passion for cycling. We champion efforts to introduce the joy of cycling and building a bridge of uniting and creating the first ever-black male cycling group here within the Toronto.

We are establishing a comfortable place where men can support, advise, organize, and meet-up/rides and promote skill-sharing. We hope to be a liaison to help user new rides past barriers to entry and into the larger cycling community here in Toronto. We rejoice when men make a decision to get together with other like-minded people that enjoy the outdoors while cycling.

We look forward to share positive images of men and their bikes to affirm the truth that black men do indeed bike. We encourage bike advocacy, and education.
