Grupo Chile was founded in Toronto, Canada, on June 1993, bearing as its main objective the expression of Chilean culture to the Canadian community, through the universal language of dance and music. Grupo Chile includes in its extensive repertoire a wide range of music and dances representing the most important folkloric regions of Chile; the North with strong influence of Aymara culture; the Sou
th with traditions of Chiloe Island; and the mystery of the Polynesian Easter Island; as well the group performs dances of the Central Region of Chile, highlighted by Chile's national dance "La Cueca". Grupo Chile has won 1st Place in the Kiwanis Dance Festival in Toronto 2002 and 3rd Place in Chin Folk International Competition 2004 and has also participated in highly-acclaimed international events such as: Mondial des Cultures de Drummonville, International Festival Lachine Montreal Quebec, Ritmo y Color, All around the Map, Harvestfest in Harbourfront, Toronto, Winterlude Festival, Ottawa; Songs of the World Festival, Hamilton, The International Hispanic Fiesta in Toronto; and various venues throughout Ontario. Grupo Chile is a member of: Folklore Canada International Community Folk Art Council in Toronto and North York Art Council.
