Champions crowned at the Harold Green City of Toronto Championships Open!🏆

Another exciting week of competitive tennis wrapped up at Toronto Tennis City, with ACE Tennis Academy’s Sophie Dement capturing the Women’s title and Cadence Benchetrit claiming the Men’s title!

🎾 Women’s Champion: Sophie Dement
🎾 Men’s Champion: Cadence Benchetrit

Dement defeated finalist Diana Brustur, while Benchetrit earned the Men’s title over finalist David Brustur.

A fantastic result for ACE Tennis Academy, with Dement coached by longtime ACE Coach Ivan Lauzon.

Congratulations to Sophie, Cadence, all of this year’s finalists and every competitor who took part!

Registration is now OPEN for the 2026 Girls Leadership Program!🎾

Looking to build confidence, develop leadership skills and take your tennis to the next level? This program is designed to empower young women with the skills and experience to confidently lead beginner tennis programs for children or adults.

As part of the Game. Set. Equity. initiative, the program focuses on developing valuable on- and off-court leadership skills that participants can carry with them both on and beyond the tennis court.

NEW for 2026: Two courses will be offered!

📍 Toronto — Sobeys Stadium
📍 Ottawa — Rideau Sports Centre

👧 Ages 14–17
🎾 Minimum playing level: 3.0
📅 Webinar sessions begin September 27
🏆 Instructor Level 1 courses take place December 4–6 & December 11–13

Participants who successfully complete the program will receive a Game. Set. Equity. Girls Leadership Program completion certificate, with eligible participants also having the opportunity to become certified tennis instructors through the TPA and CAC.

🎾 New and Upgraded Tennis Courts at Malvern Park!

Tennis players in Scarborough have more opportunities to get on court! The City of Toronto recently celebrated the opening of new and upgraded sports courts at Malvern Park, supported by an $800,000 investment in the community. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow was on hand to help officially open the revitalized facility.

The revitalization includes three upgraded tennis courts, four new pickleball courts, two refreshed netball courts and a new volleyball court.

Through Tennis Canada’s National Bank Play Your Court Program, a $100,000 grant helped renew the three tennis courts with upgraded playing surfaces and new court colour coatings.

The courts are now open daily and free to the public for drop-in use on a first-come, first-served basis.

A big thank you to the City of Toronto, Tennis Canada and National Bank for investing in accessible, high-quality recreation opportunities for the Malvern community! 🎾

🎾 2026 Ontario Wheelchair Championships!

The Ontario Wheelchair Championships recently took place at Headwaters Racquet Club in Amaranth, bringing together 12 players for an exciting weekend of competition.

🏆 Men’s Champion: Marko Golic defeated Flavio Pagliero in the final.
🏆 Women’s Champion: Adriana Salamunovic defeated Larissa McClellan in the final.
🏆 Men’s Consolation Champion: Guannan Song

A special shoutout to OTA junior competitors Oscar Zhang and Jordyn Spironello, who volunteered as ball kids throughout the tournament and helped support the players on court.

The 5th annual Nike Transition Tour Circuit Finale wrapped up September 4–6 at Sobeys Stadium in Toronto, bringing together 64 of Ontario’s top U12 and U14 athletes across singles and doubles competition!

The Yonex Provincial Masters Championships in Memory of Tony Collings recently wrapped up at The Boulevard Club in Toronto, with 70+ players competing across age categories from Over 30 to Over 80.

Congratulations to all the players who took part!

A special thank you to The Boulevard Club for hosting the event and to everyone who helped make the tournament a success.
