Canada’s Caribbean community is uniting for Caribbean Heritage Month.

Visit CaribbeanMonth.ca for more information on Caribbean Heritage Month in Canada. Together, we can stand up for our community and culture to be recognized for our contributions to Canada.

Identifying and celebrating cultural and national communities in Canada is not a rarity. It’s quite common, and several other communities have received this honour. This provides them with a special opportunity to share and celebrate their culture and heritage. More importantly, it officially recognizes their place within the fabric of Canada’s multicultural fabric.

It is time for a national Caribbean Heritage Month in Canada.

This initiative is strong when we work as a collective. Demonstrating the support of the community is vital to ensuring the government acts on this. To date, 21 Caribbean-Canadian-led and serving organizations, associations and festivals from across the country have come together to support Caribbean Heritage Month.

30 YEARS OF BLACK HISTORY IN CANADA
We celebrate the Black Caribbean communities whose food and hospitality have shaped Canada for generations.

From home kitchens and church basements to jerk pans, bakeries, restaurants, rum bars, catering halls, and fine dining β€”

Black Caribbean culture didn’t just add flavour. It built community, created opportunity, and set the table for others.

Our recipes carried memory.

Our hospitality created belonging.

Our businesses turned resilience into legacy.

For 30 years and counting, Black Caribbean chefs, cooks, bakers, mixologists, servers, farmers, and entrepreneurs have helped define how Canada eats, gathers, and celebrates.

This is more than cuisine.

This is Black history. Canadian history. Living culture.

πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή HAPPY INDEPENDENCE HAITI πŸ‡πŸ‡Ή
Today we celebrate freedom, resilience, and pride.

On January 1, 1804, Haiti became the first Black republic and the first nation born from a successful slave revolution β€” changing world history forever.

πŸ₯£ Soup Joumou is more than a dish.

Once forbidden to enslaved Haitians, it became a powerful symbol of liberation, dignity, and victory. Every spoonful tells a story of resistance, survival, and hope passed down through generations.

From kitchens to communities, Soup Joumou reminds us that freedom was claimed, not given.
