Meet the Artist!

Hi, I'm Andrea Elmhirst, a fibre artist from Ontario, Canada. I use wet felting and needle felting techniques to create large-scale sculptures inspired by local landscapes.

My art has taken many forms over the years, but my current focus is on large 3D sculptures formed from wool, silk and wire.

My most recent series of birch tree pieces, offer a close up and detailed glimpse into the textures of bark, moss, lichen, and fungi.

For more information about and my artwork, visit my website, or feel free to contact me via email or message.

This week in the studio: coloured wool and silk coming together for a new birch piece.

I’m focused on the base of the tree. Layer by layer, building texture.

There’s something meditative about working on this section. I’m looking forward to sharing how it unfolds.
