Stadium chaos across from tripod terrors tonight at Focht’s Network Weekly Wednesday Armored Combat! Multiple games of Classic and Alpha Strike had players seeing record damage numbers and winning some prizes!

The game continues next week, and we want you in on the action! Battle-hardened veterans and courageous new hotshots are equally wanted and welcome!

The Alpha Strike game was probably the largest we’d ever run as 12 players brought Lances and Stars to crash together in a Solaris-themed conflagration! Tentative alliances came and went as opportunity knocked and players tested their mettle against everything ranging from a high tech Rime Otter and Charger C, to a jerry-rigged Muckraker! The Classic games meanwhile had players trying to control a battlefield dominated by the fearsome superheavy tripod MetroMech; the ultimate evolution of the Urbie line! Long Tom cannons roared and RACs revolved as the player units desperately dodged hails of fire while trying for the win!

Today was also the draw date for the Weekly Wednesday Armored Combat BattleTech Refit & Redeployment Raffle! Several folks went home with new books and boxes and we can’t wait to see them all on the table!

Congratulations this week go to Arsenii who won this week’s prize ‘Mech of a Chimera! Members of the Wednesday Warriors Mercenary Battalion are eligible to win a prize every week!

We’re playing a weekly casual game currently held at Hairy Tarantula in midtown Toronto and would love to see you there! The sudden storm of the season wasn’t enough to stop folks from showing up tonight at Focht’s Network Weekly Wednesday Armored Combat! Multiple games of Classic and Alpha Strike had players dodging hailstones on their way in, and dodging lasers once they arrived!

The game continues next week, and we want you in on the action! Battle-hardened veterans and courageous new hotshots are equally wanted and welcome!

The Alpha Strike game was a nail-biter of careful positioning as two teams squared off to headhunt a priority unit on the enemy team while protecting their own! Careful use of cover and firing lane control had both teams about evenly matched; but pour one out tonight for newcomer Jayden who had the misfortune of being paired with Jesse Kay who couldn’t roll a hit to save my life all evening. (Seriously, we counted five opportunities I had to do serious damage to a target on FIVES and didn’t land a single one). In the end the Js did manage to cripple their priority target in the final round but at the expense of nearly their entire force. Sigh, that’s BattleTech, baby!

The Classic game meanwhile had two teams of players duking it out while at the mercy of the randomly targeting ultimate weapon of the BattleTech universe: the Prototype Clan Improved Extended Range Re-Engineered Rotary Large Heavy Hyper Binary Bombast Variable Speed Chemical X-Pulse Laser II Turbo. While this time around no one was reckless enough to get blasted by invoking its name incorrectly, it still managed to do a ton of damage. An Atlas got pasted by it and survived but was left wide open for a pair of Gauss slugs that put it down hard. A Dragon also took multiple hits with a surprising number of critical hits, but even that was nothing compared to the poor Spider who went from existing to not in the blink of a quad-linked laser blast. Compared to all that the usual shenanigans like a Phoenix Hawk getting AC/20’d in the face were almost humdrum!

It was a blast watching folks build the most incredible creations and then take to the table for intense space dog-fighting action! We had a great time playing with everyone this past weekend! Kudos for the players who stuck it out in the main event, dodging all that Arrow IV fire and successfully reclaiming Solaris VII from the Word of Blake!

Last day for Toronto’s FanExpo Canada!

Solaris VII’s liberation is on the horizon, but one key element remains: somebody has to takedown the Precentor’s stealthy Assassin BattleMech once and for all! Come help bring peace to the world (relatively speaking) in our Alpha Strike Aces Main event, or learn to play at one of our Intro to Alpha Strike games!

The clock is also ticking down on the battle between the Forge and the Komplex in Snap Ships Tactics! We’ve got demo games setup and a pile of parts just waiting for an inventive mind to put them together into a ship that can win the day! Which side will you choose?
